skyQhater's video shows what often happens with Breakfast (on the NC at least)...
Namely, that you get an awkward "presenters not quite ready yet" moment after the countdown, which I think has usually passed by the time the BBC One ident cuts to the Salford studio.
Even BBC One viewers see the 05:59 NC countdown at weekends, as BBC One doesn't bother having 2 minutes of its own trailers & ident (like it does on weekdays).
My understanding is that the new style opening will involve the
very
first thing at each
TOTH being some sort of sting, before the first presenter two-shot. Just like during the Rio 2016 Olympics. This will eliminate the awkward pause.
I'm surprised they didn't stick with such an arrangement continuously after the Rio Olympics ended, and it's taken a further 2 years for them to re-implement this device.
Much as it pains me to say anything positive about Good Morning Braindead, starting the TOTH with an "itv" sting and fanfare I have always felt looks & sounds good. It gives a sense of a "firm beginning", which 1-2 seconds of the presenters staring at the camera waiting to speak definately doesn't.
