I do like Charlie Stayt. He's not as pompous as the other three and seems more human and down to Earth. He, along with Carol, are the two remaining greats from a period when Breakfast was far more watchable with Bill, Sian, Susanna, even Dermot as main presenters, with Declan on business, Chris Hollins on sport and Moira at the news desk. Those were the days...
Maybe because Dan wasn’t in today, he’s likely to get excited about the new look and go on about it all morning. Charlie however would likely raise an eyebrow and mention it quickly in a dead pan manner before moving on to the next item

I’m not sure you can include Chris Hollins in that list, he used to build his part

Good point, but wasn't the 2003 refresh introduced in the first week of July?
Wouldn't surprise me if the refresh didn't make it to screen until September, at the start of autumn - not a lot of point to launching a refresh just as summer holidays are around the corner.

Andrew has the right thinking. And it's a refresh not a rebrand or a relaunch just little changes in house that cost little or nothing extra. No budget for set or anything radical. It's cliche but think evoloutuon not revloution.
Also, note how that new Twitter bg matches the new London dtl backdrops that have been in use a while now

No, it was actually November 2002, as shown in the video below:
(This was also the first Breakfast hosted by Dermot Murnaghan and Natasha Kerplinsky)

My apologies - I wasn't sure if you were referring to the titles or set.
