Rachel Burden joined Charlie on the sofa at 7 and tweeted that it was a last minute call up.

There's some sort of issue with being able to link up with Carol Kirkwood for the weather forecasts at the moment. I presume she's on location somewhere, rather than at NBH.

There was no teaser insert from her during the 6am run-down, although Dan Walker said fear not she'll be along later.

The 06:15-ish forecast was the pre-recorded one with Ben Rich that has been used overnight on the NC.

She’s been stuck in traffic apparently.

As a result of having to rush back, Carol used another presenter's bulletin, which ended on an out of vision slide that cut off the sound, and reset the software.

Chris Mason looks very ill at ease presenting Breakfast doesn't he?

From what I saw he seemed more at ease yesterday than today. An element of that might be because Steph is far more used to presenting Breakfast as one of the News presenters compared to Victoria who I'm guessing has presented a handful of times at most.

New logo on the Twitter and Facebook page today. Does this cue weeks of speculation on a rebrand??

Looking back at this from 2009, the 'new look' studio did look hideously cold and unwelcoming...

Have the drone shots of Salford Quays at sunrise that were filmed a few weeks back (supposedly for "new titles") ever yet been broadcast?

In the current era of things like Beyond 100 Days and Afternoon Live, it seems that a trend towards "variation on a theme" within a broadly generic look is increasingly the trend rather than very tightly regimented genericness.

A new-ish look for Breakfast that steps a little further away from things like the "red stripey globe" etc is therefore not beyond the realms of possibility.

I doubt that it'll be a total breaking-of-ranks with other BBC News programmes on BBC One, like Breakfast did in autumn 1997 (when it dropped the virtual glass coat of arms style, coinciding with new BBC logo).

Sneeky spies tell me that those of you wanting a new set will be disapointed. Those wanting a nice "visual refresh" sans globes and discoballs will however be... er.. apointed?
