Regarding what to do with Derbyshire should Breakfast return to London. How about sending Derbyshire the other way and let her work from Manchester.

I don't know why, but I don't think Victoria would be happy with that.

Is there a single shred of a suggestion that Breakfast is going to relocate to London anytime soon? Why the pointless speculation?

(And where would you make Derbyshire in Salford? The BBC don't have any studios suitable for that style of programme there, and are hardly likely to hire out from Dock10...)

I’m not suggesting the move should happen but I could see Derbyshire working in the current BBC Breakfast studio.

Would be a challenge to do some of their larger 'multiple cafe table + bar stool' discussions in a studio that small.

But with the programme slaughtering the viewing figures in that slot it cannot justify its budget so shouldn't be doing them things anyway...

Ratings source?? BBC NC is hardly ratings driven or it would be closed down a long time ago.
Given the lack of live OBs and shared resources with the website, R1 and other iniatives. It really isn't that expensive.

Derbyshire is winning awards by the bucketload and their "lovely" films are getting millions of shares and hits on the BBC website/ Facebook.
The show isn't going anywhere, just like BBC Breakfast isn't moving back to London. Just tv forum fantasy.

But its still not news and is inappropriate for a news channel to be showing every weekday. Package the films (which are the bits that win the awards) into back half hour fillers and leave the news channel to broadcast actual news.

There are several items on the Six and Ten O'Clock News every week that are not "news" but non-time-specific films - the films they're showing at the moment about the City of Culture candidates are an obvious example - so you may as well say they shouldn't be on the News Channel either. Breakfast show loads of short films that could be on any day as well.

Not much news happens while Derbyshire is on the air. That's why Five Live have a phone-in at 9am and Sky News have All Out Politics at 10am - and why Derbyshire has other items as well. And when news breaks, it is covered in full - the Royal engagement last week, for a start.

Or BBC Breakfast's Roger Johnson.

By announced, I assume the poster means, he's got hold of the Christmas radio times and they are in there. Some look incomplete as they generally only single head on the main 3 days.

Wrong. They place an easel outside Media City announcing the news.
