I'm not so sure, touring the country in a specially branded butty wagon could have been an item that Keith Chegwin would have been involved in on The Big Breakfast.

I found it's not as good as it used to be- I prefer it when it was broadcast from the house...and Denise Van Outen looks different 🤣

It's such a shame it wasn't a bright sunny day that they probably expected when they planned it. However, it was certainly a nice change to have all that space visible.

I wasn't that keen on the 'Rio-esque' version of the theme, but the titles were an improvement. I can't see them using that style on a regular basis, as they don't include the 'news globe' branding.

I do like the theme but as with GMB it might not be appropriate for more sombre news days - but they could always have a couple of variants of it. The titles are so much better and there is no reason why Breakfast can't go off-brand a bit - there is still subtle branding there and actually having a bit of freedom to move away slightly from the BBC News branding wouldn't do it any harm. And after all the titles are just a few seconds of the hour.

Is an argument too that the BBC News branding needs overhauling and perhaps something along these lines could work for the bulletins and news channel too. It would be a major overhaul but with a link to the previous brand (through the place name graphics), but whether it would work I don't know.

The BBC News brand does need tweeking but the globe needs to stay as it is recognisable and a strong part of it all. Maybe the visuals with a faint overlaid globe that fades in at the end of the titles?

Eh, it just needs a different endboard.

Just being curious but was an OB truck really needed for their whole Big Breakfast outdoors thing? I thought dock10 said that their plaza was up for use as a filming location. Surely they'd have wireholes to pass through.

As a side Question as the whole dock10 facility on one central router / grid where things can be patched through? I ask because I thought the technical equipment was all provided by dock10 but customized for the BBC.

There will be termination cabinets in the plaza, not sure whether they connect back to the Dock 10 facility, or the BBC's facility within their building(s) (or both ?) However, hiring an OB truck with all the kit, was probably cheaper than hiring a gallery within Dock 10 and/or it may have all been a bit too much for the Breakfast gallery to cope with as an 'add on' ?

When you say truck do you mean a scanner or an SNG vehicle?

Many of the latter can handle an OB with a few cameras. They may have plugged it through the wallboxes rather than using the satellite dish to avoid delays.

I don't recall seeing an SNG van in the plaza, but there was a vehicle that might have been a small OB truck, or equally it may just have been a tender vehicle.

I'm not sure about them using the big breakfast name, though that's the expectation of a fun filled, 'wacky' breakfast show.

With bright primary colours painted on every wall!
