We've had this discussion before regarding Alastair Stewart and it is all ultimately stupid and depends on the show. I remember though back in the early days of The Big Breakfast when Chris was ever off Gaby would move to his seat and the guest host sit in her seat, though this kind of arrangement ended once others were alternating with Chris as host.

Why on earth would Louise Minchin leave over such a ridiculous thing? She's made fun of it herself.
It'll blow over I'm sure, it's just another crappy story for the Mirror and the like to get in a flap about. As Brekkie says (and as the newspapers are ignoring) it depends on the programme - I think on some programmes (for example the NC/Business Live) it does indicate a 'lead' presenter role, not a senior presenter role - but on those programmes the presenters tend to swap around so that one presenter doesn't take precedence. On Breakfast they actually tend to swap around TOTH headline opening and other small bits anyway.

Wasn't it the Daily Mail who broke this 'story?' A Tory paper who's agenda is to break up the BBC.

The opening link was from the Telegraph/Torygraph - though not as fiercely anti-BBC as the Mail, definitely not a fan (though these days even The Guardian has an on/off relationship in regards to the BBC).
I thought/hoped people had finally stopped posting links to BBC articles in the Mail as, like any Mail headline that is a rhetorical question, the BS to truth ratio is off the scale. Though, 'Is the BBC spreading Marxist propaganda in order to start a Corbynite revolution on the 100th Anniversary of the October Revolution thus leading to a collapse in house prices which then causes cancer?'

I think they have switched the presenting rota around this week. Not sure about Dan Walker but Louise Minchin due to appear on Thursday onwards. Dan Walker was involved quite a bit on Sport Relief towards the end of last week / at the weekend, so that may explain the rota switch.
Dan having a week off already?
