For those who missed the Bill Turnbull tribute package featuring the PM, Sian and Susanna...

The CBBC Hacker dog sang 'Never forget your Breakfast family, neverrrr defect to ITV ' A small remark perhaps about Reid. Very Happy

Surprising to see that Charlie Stayt wasn't on the sofa this morning to say goodbye to Bill?

To be fair, Charlie and Bill have only once presented on the sofa together, and that was very briefly - this week in fact was possibly the second time they've appeared live on the same programmes (they've had recorded inserts in each other's broadcasts, but only live once before (as far as I can recall)).

There was a year that they did a Come Dine with Me - perhaps for Christmas - where Bill and Sian cooked for Charlie and Susanna and vice versa. I seem to remember them all appearing live on the sofa to discuss it, or maybe I dreamt that?

Yes it did happen, in 2010! It's on YouTube if you want to see it again.

Interesting how the articles all remark that the sofa is the brand and the programme was stuffy when behind a desk and only came into its own when they started using a sofa full time.

Commentators calling it the iconic Breakfast red sofa. Go back 15 years and it was GMTV who had the iconic red sofa.

Grrrr . . . I knew someone would have posted a video.

I recorded the programme this morning, and had a nice edited piece which hadn't finished uploading to YouTube before I left for work a 11am.

I came home at 8:30pm to find a 'copyright infringement' message.

So I've adjusted it . . . EXACTLY to remove the alleged infringement (and some boring cake bits). Very Happy

Here you go . . .

Nice (official) debut for Dan Walker in this morning's edition; he fits into the programme seamlessly.

It does seem slightly odd having a sports guy and someone considerably younger looking as the main frontrunner (compared to Bill Turnbull and Dermot Murnaghan anyway), but I agree he did seem very relaxed and at home and seems to get on really well with Louise. I'm sure eventually he'll become one of Breakfast's strongest ever assets.

The "sports guy" thing is a bit of a misnomer. He has an MA in journalism and has been doing non-sport stuff on Radio 5 Live.

See also Frank Bough, first host of Breakfast Time who also fronted Grandstand.

I'm still surprised they didn't have a clear week with Charlie hosting this week, this is often the done thing when a long running host leaves. Although Breakfast is in such a strong position, they probably didn't need to do this.
