Again this notion that there is a "top" job on Breakfast is somewhat dated - the presenters all do three days a week now.
Charlie Stayt has interviewed the great and the good including the Prime Minister.
Shouldn't that be "the great and the good and the Primeminister".
Agree - would be interesting though to know the average ratings for Mon to Wed compared to Thu-Sat. I know on the whole for some reason with most daily shows ratings tend to drop throughout the week, but wondering if the Saturday edition of Breakfast running past 9am might tip things slightly.
BTW, never being up early enough on a Saturday to see for much more than the 9am hour do the Saturday presenters both front the full 4 hours?

Workings days for Dan will be influenced by the fact he will continue on sport duties. So Imagine Friday and Saturday as a rule will be working on Football Focus etc.

Pretty sure that the Saturday presenters do cover the whole four hours. At least, when I've been up at 7am on Saturdays, it's always tended to be Charlie and Naga right through until 10am.

Pre 2012, when the show came from TVC the Saturday edition was only fronted by one presenter until 7am, at which point they were joined by a co presenter. However, since the Salford move, the whole 4 hours has been fronted by both presenters.

They do - think there's another 15 minute programme that's aired in the first hour (might be Click), that's shown at the more unusual time of 6.15 I believe.
Thanks - though I had vague recollections of one of them getting a lie in. I think though they do get a 15 minute break when Newswatch is aired.

That doesn't suggest to me that the production team view him as "second" in the pecking order.
If that's the case, why is that Charlie 'moves up' to the start of the week when Bill is away and that the end of the week is covered by other presenters? In the same way Naga steps into Louise's shoes at the start of the week if she's away...
I can't imagine Charlie getting the same send off as Bill either when he ultimately departs.
And Louise has often stood in for Naga so I am not sure that theory holds any more.

Yes I don't think there is really a 'top' job on breakfast anymore and Id guess all presenters are thought of as equal stature, emphasised by the fact Bill will present until Friday next week.
Interestingly, it seems as though Dan was going from branch to branch of William Hill as long ago as September.

I assume you're being ironic with that statement - clearly somebody in the know was placing bets on it, but it wouldn't be Dan himself. The man doesn't work Sundays for religious reasons - can you really see him placing bets (let alone morally dubious ones)?!?!

I'm probably being dim and misunderstanding, but I don't see how your points follow through here. In my mind, surely the fact that Bill Turnbull will be appearing pretty much all week during his final week on Breakfast (commencing 22nd February) suggests that he has some seniority in rank above the other presenters, if only because of how long he has been in the role? It's very rare indeed to find Turnbull presenting towards the end of the working week and rarer still for BBC Breakfast to give a week-long send off to one of its hosts. From my patchy memory, I'm pretty sure the departures of the likes of Sian Williams, Sophie Raworth and Jeremy Bowen (and others) were only marked in their very final respective editions and then only in a fairly cursory manner, e.g. a compilation VT and some good luck wishes (Susanna Reid, of course, got nothing given her defection to the other side).
Having said that, I appreciate the point that, in principle at least, BBC Breakfast presenters these days are on a fairly equal footing rota-wise.

Close. There is a pre-rec item on a Sat/Sun at 6.15am. The repeat of the news channel Esler/Kermode film review show from Friday afternoon. Same show put out on both days.
