Yes I guess so. But in the previous era with Bill and Sian doing 4 days and being on the show for a decade they were the main faces of it. Now it's changed.
Almost identical to what happened on GMTV when Fiona Phillips left.
That low roof does look very obvious in that YouTube clip. I know it won't effect the ratings and most viewers won't care, but there used to be a certain quality standard that you'd expect from the BBC.
The article has already been rubbished by numerous people working there for the lack of context. It was before the full security programme had been implemented
Just another lazy anti Salford story.
Quote:
News that the BBC beefed up security at Media City in Salford may come as a surprise to staff working in and around Television Centre in west London - which has around five times the amount of crime in its postcode W12 7RJ as that reported in Salford M50 2EQ.
The Telegraph today reports on an email sent by Rhian Roberts, head of development at Radio 5, to colleagues: “I’ve been looking at on-site security on 5 live’s behalf following a couple of incidents – and also the reality that MediaCity is a different kettle of fish to W12.”
She said that staff could could have security escorts to “nearby car parks and tram stops”.
The Telegraph reports that a handful of BBC workers have fallen victim to crime in Salford over the last year, including: one employee shot at with an air rifle as he cycled home, a producer chased by a gang after confronting them as they tried to steal bikes and a security guard who was assaulted.
The Crime Map for Salford M50 2EQ for February shows 252 reported crimes including 2 robberies and 14 incidents of violent crime.
By contrast W12 7RJ, the postcode around Television Centre in west London, experienced 1307 crimes in February - including 45 robberies and 153 incidents of violent crime.
It would seem that Salford is a “different kettle of fish” from Shepherd’s Bush - a much safer one.
The Telegraph reports that the email was sent around last year, when the BBC was new to the Media City site and it was relatively deserted

.
Eamonn had been on a 3 day week for years before that.
They've clearly made a point of increasing the apperances of Susannah and Louise especially in recent months. In many ways what will be more interesting is what happens next when one of the four leave (I don't think Bill will last long) - will they actually employ someone already up in Salford or will they just transfer another name from London.
Bill has moved to the North West though, so obviously it's a long term thing being on Breakfast.
In terms of a successor to Bill in the future, the only one I'd be happy to watch is Simon McCoy.
Jon Kay? I quite like him.
Yeh, he's quite good as well. With more time on the sofa, he'd be a very capable Breakfast presenter. It's always good to see a younger male face on Breakfast away from Bill, Charlie and now Nick!

New set - warmer morning feel, compared to the old studio and even more so compared to Daybreak
Sharper images on the screens behind
Dislikes:-
Height of studio - limiting it slightly
backdrop is too neutral - why not use modified NWT backdrop of Salford Quays (especially shots of The Imperial War Museum/The Lowry Exhibition Centre and longer distance shots of Beatham Tower)
Already used to the studio since NWT moved in, so for me that is not really a distraction or a limitation of the programme, but do agree with the "closeliness" of the presenters (mainly Bill and Susanna) in 1st half of the week, but seems to have been made better by today. Not overly bothered on single shots, as that does seem to be the norm on mainly programmes nowadays. Been a good week and has shown that it can attract guests to the studio - many of which based in the North (so it does show that life does exist outside London! - even more so as The Lowry Theatre is in walking distance - whilst The Opera House, Palace Theatre, Manchester Arena and the 02 Apollo are less than 10 minutes driving distance!). I have, also, noticed the "chemistry" between Bill and Susanna - hopefully it will grow, but it does seem very uncomfortable at this moment in time.
I think Charlie is a freelancer. Definitely agree with all you have you say, amosc100, as a fellow North Wester! Breakfast, overall, I feel, has improved from its London offering.
