I think we've gone past the point of "main" presenters on Breakfast.
They all do three days a week.
Congrats to Dan.
Anybody else not surprised that the position hasn't gone to Charlie Stayt though? He's OK as the 'second' male presenter doing Thursday-Saturday, however part of me just couldn't really see him wanting the 'top' job, so to speak.

Indeed-He wasn't even in the running until he covered for Bill in Early January but congrats to Dan none the less.
Well, none of us saw that one coming, when he did a three day holiday cover last month did we?!!
Congratulations to Dan.

I agree, Stayt has got a certain style that i didn't see fitting the top job.
It was practically a done deal when Dan did that unannounced cover a couple of weeks ago.

Clever move - they'll only have to mark his anniversary every 4 years.
duly anointed ....
Congrats to @mrdanwalker on taking my place on the sofa @BBCBreakfast from Feb 29. I'm sure he'll do a great job.

Again this notion that there is a "top" job on Breakfast is somewhat dated - the presenters all do three days a week now.
Charlie Stayt has interviewed the great and the good including the Prime Minister.
That doesn't suggest to me that the production team view him as "second" in the pecking order.
Congrats to Dan.

If that's the case, why is that Charlie 'moves up' to the start of the week when Bill is away and that the end of the week is covered by other presenters? In the same way Naga steps into Louise's shoes at the start of the week if she's away...
I can't imagine Charlie getting the same send off as Bill either when he ultimately departs.

Workings days for Dan will be influenced by the fact he will continue on sport duties. So Imagine Friday and Saturday as a rule will be working on Football Focus etc.
