Which makes me question whether Bill will get a direct replacement. I can see the likes of Charlie, Louise, Naga, Jon, Sally, and possibly Steph and Roger sharing duties/shifts across Monday-Saturday, rather than it being fixed. It kind of is like this already eg. last week Jon did Wednesday & Thursday, whilst Charlie did Friday, as did Louise even though Naga still did Thursday.
Female duo on the sofa again this morning with Louise and Sally.

No particular reason, I just think with how the presenters are shift swapping and sharing far more now than say, 5 years ago, I can't see there being a need to replace him directly, and Sally appearing with Louise this morning, just like Dan Walker the other week, further supports my view in just how flexible and versatile the programme now is with regards presenters.

Yes, because, of course, it worked out so well for them the last time they had no fixed presenters between the Witchell/Dando era and the Raworth/Bowen era. They didn't get creamed by GMTV at all!
Two questions:
a) What do the BBC have to gain from potentially destabilising a well-liked brand that out-rates its nearest rival by nearly two-to-one?
and b) Until (or unless) they put out a press release outlining their post-Turnbull plans, what's the point in blind speculation?
ETA: Don't misunderstand me... I agree it's fine to talk about who might fill the slot... because someone will... hence my use of the word "blind."

Golden rule of breakfast tv according to Greg Dyke..
Familiarity.
His reasoning was people like to see the same faces at the same time every morning.
Having a core team of 4-6 presenters in essence is a good idea, but not if it's someone different from that team of 6 on a different day of the week.
At least they haven't plumbed the depths of promoting Mike Bushell to the main sofa for a shift, yet..

During the UK opt-out after WBR at 05:40 this morning, Adnan Nawaz mentioned that Breakfast would be presented by Bill & Louise, so I was surprised to see Louise with Sally.
As an aside, my previous comment a couple of weeks ago about the random appearance of the 'BBC News' Box during the opt-out seems to have been resolved.
This is from early last week, I couldn't upload it as a video to YT for some reason:

Now, the ticker goes off screen during the closing sting of WBR, and the BBC News box appears over it, to be replaced by the NC logo and clock as soon as the presenter starts talking.
Did someone read my comment, as it took them a few days of different timings to get this right. At least now I understand why it happens.

I think the fact that no replacement has been announced and Bill has delayed his departure (just based on my experience) means there's something bigger going on than an internal reshuffle.
If so, it will be the first time the new 'main' presenter has come from anywhere other than the 'second' set of presenters since Natasha Kaplinsky (who replaced Sophie Raworth in 2003).
My money's on Matt Barbet.

I wouldnt think Matt Barbett would even consider it, plenty of 5News bulletins to present and still establishing Saturday Show.

I think Bill was due to present but was unfortunately ill. He tweeted about it but I can't link to it.

Ultimately, if he wants to reach an audience he'd be mad not to move to BBC Breakfast if this was on the cards. Not that he should have any reason to be unhappy with his current position but if push came to shove...
