perhaps a view out over the Internal Atrium in Quay House would be easier to light etc than an exterior view, a la BBC LDN back in the day.
Have you ever been? That would be incredibly noisy.
No never been, my entire suggestion was hypothetical based on images of the building.
The Sport Center doesn't appear to be insulated for sound from that atrium, but surely windows similar to N8 would do the job. They could still have a small studio, but the real background would be infinitely better than a fake CG one with no perspective.
I've noticed this morning that they seem to be using slightly wider shots for Charlie & Louise, which include the lightboxes either side of the plasma. Unfortunately, still no single-headed shots.
Although I quite like the CGI background on the screens, I would prefer them to have a little more animation, and more than just a few chairs and plants.
I noticed a more balanced shot. With Bill & Susannah there was more of a gap between Bill and the LH edge (seemingly to get the background banner in shot) with Sussanah right on the RH edge.
In the gallery photo on the monitor underneath Cam 1 - you can see Charlie and Louise sat in London on the old set while Bill and Suzannah are rehearsing in Salford.
That'll be NET1 output. Always handy to be able to tell if you're on air
Is Newsround HD now too? I remember reading that it was when they moved to Salford, but it isn't labelled as such on the EPG. The whole "first daily BBC News programme in HD" thing made me wonder.
Yep, Newsround has been HD on BBC One since moving to Salford.
Maybe I should post this in presenters and rotas, but anyhow, in Ashley B's Youtube clip on page 2 of this thread, Susanna Reid's angled posturing and pouting at the camera is totally Corningstone-esque. (or whatever that womans name is from Anchorman).
I've never actually been able to see Susanna on live tv news, only small snippets on YT. If Ashley's clip is anything to go by, all I can say is that I'm very glad that I get Big Komla or Naga as my regions Breakfast presenter, and don't have to endure hours of The Divine Miss R.

I watched that whole clip, and not once does she "pout". She's smiling for Christ's sake.
I advise you find a way to watch her broadcast before memorialising your condemnation on a forum James and writing her off based on a snapshot and a fleeting moment of video.
I've seen photos of you Westy, and you're a straight-up pig.
Bitter, much?
Gav, all due respect here but that's a very harsh way to treat another member. How would you like it if other people were to respond with a similar comment towards your physical appearance?
Yes sometimes Westy's posts can be annoying and downright degrading (sorry Westy - but I can't lie) but to respond to that by calling him a pig is just out of order.
***Sorry for dragging off topic but sometimes I see stuff and I have to say something***
Back to the matter in hand, there appears to be no possibility for a single shot as the NWT set is designed for one, rather than two presenters from what somebody suggested to me, whether that's the case I don't know but the closeness of everything tallies up with that!
I was giving a "how do you like it" example of posting insulting messages about physical appearances - as if its got the first thing to do with what we're here to discuss.
It took, what, less than 5 minutes for someone to be insulted - well how about the broadcasters (who perhaps read along) who daily have to read through messages like Westy's and James - comparisons to grotesque film characters or the imbuing of bad attitudes based on looks.
I *am* above this kind of thing - but I'm forced to read horrible judgements on Ms Reid all the time here, and no one does anything about it.
Well that is what it is like to insult someone on shallow grounds. Its unpleasant and unnecessary.
So I'm prepared to be banned - but I thought some people need an education.
OK, Gavin. I'll try to do that. But, in the albeit small segment from about 2'17"" to 2'23" (admittedly fleeting), it comes across as all Pouty and Hollywood to me. And if that's what's normally given, me no like. A Corningstone Hollywood head flick.
We may have to agree to disagree. This sort of thing would never have been allowed at Cowcaddens.
You're right: one shouldn't dismiss someone else on the basis of 4 seconds of film. But, I'm just saying.
