If no one wants to move out of London perhaps they might look to promoting one of the Northern regional presenters.

Possibly Roger Johnson because he's good at presenting on Sunday, could they not just promote Steph although then they would have too many women presenters against to poor Charile.

Sad to hear that Bill's moving on, but having watched him since he started presenting at weekends back in 2001 I think we can all agree that having spent 15 years getting up before dawn, he probably deserves a rest!

Breakfast certainly has become far more of a team effort in recent years, with the presenting line up becoming more fluid than before, with probably Bill remaining as the only rigid part of the roster.

Personally, I'd imagine that Simon McCoy would be ideal for the role.

Without wandering into 'Rota-Stalking' territory, I don't think that's likely (but I agree, he would be excellent)

McCoy would be perfect, particularly considering he doesn't really have a consistent News Channel slot at the moment. I imagine it would be much more likely were Breakfast in London though.

Simon's probably one of the most consistent on the NC actually - weekday afternoons, and frequently the News at One and weekend bulletins.

The other places to look for potential presenters are probably BBC Five Live and, to a lesser extent, World News.

Sad for BBC Breakfast but it's in situations like these where its carousel of presenters becomes its strength - as evidenced by Susanna Reid's defection to itv, which has had negligible impact on Breakfast's ratings.

Speculating over the great and good as to who might replace Bill is, I imagine, futile: it's not known as a programme to rock the boat. Susanna Reid jumps ship? Draft in Naga Munchetty. I think the most likely scenario is for Charlie Stayt to be reunited with Louise Minchin (the former Thurs-Sat team to Bill and Susanna Reid's Mon-Wed team) as the new Mon-Wed team with Jon Kay or Roger Johnson paired with Naga Munchetty on Thurs-Sat (Sunday continuing to be guess the presenter).

If this does prove to be the case, I prefer Jon Kay to Roger Johnson.

That said, it would be great if Breakfast did shake things up a bit in 2016. What about a female presenter to replace Bill? It would be interesting to have two female anchors presenting together (as Breakfast has done on some occasions with Louise and Naga).

I hope Bill isn't joining Susanna on Good Morning Britain...

With the new realities hitting the Corporation, moving Breakfast back to London no longer seems 'off the agenda' could make way for News Channel changes and indeed boost the chances of it's survival. Would add to economies of scale too.

The show has proven time and time again that the presenters are the last thing people tune in for in the morning, so cue the months of speculation only for the obvious choice of Charlie Stayt to get the top job. Would be wise for them to try and address the Sunday issue at the same time and get Charlie and Louise hosting Mon-Thu and the B-team from Fri-Sun.

It would be very surprising if they did look outside the BBC but just to add to the pointless speculation before the inevitable announcement could they take advantage of the upheaval at ITN, though I can't see Mark wanting to do it (but was surprise Dermot took the job too) and while Alastair would probably fit in rather well is it the sort of move he'd make at this point in his career?

If Breakfast was in London there would be a wider list of names in the frame, but the move to Manchester will probably put many off.

Although ratings will probably stay strong whoever hosts, I'm sure some would be less well received than others.
