oh dear - it's pathetic.

At least they are lit. Unlike the GMB ones (which were very gloomy on day one)... Don't think they look pathetic at all.

It's quite odd that out of all the days this Christmas, today, a working day for many, has the worst breakfast service of the whole period.

No breakfast on BBC One after 7:30, No GMB at all, Breakfast news channel only meaning no regional news, and to top it all, when I was watching it had in vision signing!

The banks are not open up here you be hard push to found a bus or train service, with many shops still closed. Since its Friday many people have taken the day off.

Well, yes but January 2nd is an official Bank Holiday in Scotland, so no need for any 'regular, 9-5 types' to take the day from their holiday allowance.

You lot up there take it in lieu of not taking the last Monday in August as a BH AIUI ?

Scotland have the first Monday in August instead of that one and as a result have one more than England.

I think the 2nd Jan should be bank holiday for all, just so it has symmatary with Christmas/Boxing Day.

I can remember also visiting Edinburgh on a Monday morning in April, and noticing how quiet it was travelling in from the airport at 08:00hrs. I seem to recall that was a 'local' Bank Holiday just for the city ?

The problem for the BBC was that it was the last opportunity to repeat Match of the Day from last night. Is it required to be on BBC One because this morning would have been a useful opportunity to show it on BBC Two.

Was the last regional bulletin on BBC One at 6.57 or did they include an early bulletin before 7.25?

Last regions/nations bulletin was just before 7.20.

Yes third week in April is a public holiday in Edinburgh. Other towns/cities have public holidays on other dates. For complete confusion have a look at Royal Mail's holidays in Scotland.
