The presenting schedule has been posted for this Christmas

BBC News Fix, this has to be your final warning. http://www.tvforum.co.uk/thenewsroom/presenter-rota-40301/ has been pointed out on numerous occasions and is pretty clear on what is acceptable.

I don't understand why it is questionable about firing up the Breakfast studio on a Sunday. The programme is on air for a similar amount of time as weekdays - albeit some of that is filed with short programmes such as Reporters, Click etc. (I don't actually know which programmes air when).

I also understand that Breakfast rates quite highly on a Sunday for the news channel.

With regard to Breakfast on Christmas Day a quick Google suggests it has been around in one form or another for a long time - a quick Google suggests at least 14 years.

It's questionable whether it's worth firing up the Breakfast studio on Sunday mornings as it is, but don't really see the point on Christmas Day. Indeed isn't Breakfast on Christmas morning quite a recent development - used to be a news bulletin (at most) then CBBC.

Could it be a case of 'sharing out' the Christmas Day workload between London and Salford? Plus even if you didn't have Breakfast on BBC1, the news channel would still need live news

Well Sunday mornings the studio also include Sunday Politics North West!

Thing is the same could be said for any studio, to host it, really!

Why do you have such a downer with anything that comes from Salford?

Isn't it recorded on a Friday afternoon like the other regions?

Breakfast has been on for Christmas day for as long as I can remember. Correct me of i'm wrong but I do believe breakfast does have decent ratings on the news channel on Sunday mornings too. So, i presume it is worth 'firing up the studio ' seeing as they already have a team up there 7 days a week anyway..

It's questionable whether it's worth firing up the Breakfast studio on Sunday mornings as it is,.

Can you explain to me how its more efficient to hire in a production team for one day a week each Sunday in London instead of using the existing dedicated team in Salford? How does that make sense?

I think his theory is the News Channel production team would do it instead, effectively just using the same content as will be on post-9am. Wasn't that how it was done in TVC?

Not in the final years anyway.
You're going to have to set up a studio and pay another production team overtime when you have a full team already in place in Salford shift working 6 days a week. If you're going 6 days a week, economies of scale make a 7 days operation a no brainer. Breekie's suggestion would cost more not less!

I would assume that any content generated for Breakfast is automatically available for the news channel and BBC World to use if they wish, subject to any rights issues. In that sense it having moved to Salford wouldn't have changed anything?

What might have changed is how staff are utilised e.g. if the two directors of Breakfast in London also did a stint on the news channel that would clearly no longer happen.

As has been stated before on here the Breakfast setup is in Salford for 7 day a week operation. The resource simply no longer exists in London without presumably overtime etc. In addition is there studio time available? No studios are on air 24/7 which presumably allows downtime for regular maintenance etc.

Breakfast has been on Christmas Day since it began in 2000. That Christmas it was also simulcast on BBC2, which was the case until, er, 2006 I think when Breakfast moved to BBC1 seven days a week.

As mentioned, Breakfast on Sunday is BBC News' highest rated show of the week - it's certainly the only thing that gets into Broadcast's multichannel chart on a regular basis - so it's not like some half-arsed token thing.
