That end of the studio is actually narrower than the other end! It's a very odd shape indeed -long and narrow, with one end larger than the other. The first image of the sofa is a very wide (possibly fish eye) lens, but shows how close to the sofa the cameras have to be. The choir is spread out into the sofa area and the shot is also on a very wide lens.

They could do a massive jib swing in that empty space, could look impressive (rather than small and stuffy) if done right.
I think you can noggin! The low grid also means that it's in shot in virtually every wide they go for. Acres of black floor and black grid isn't IMO a great look.

So are we adding camera expert to your list of titles and qualifications?
I have a feeling you don't really know what you're talking about.

Its simple? A swing, from right over to the left of the set, where the sofa is ?

There is a jib in the Salford studio and it's as big as can safely be accommodated in the space. There isn't much room or scope for massive moves, but they do some very nice moves in and out of regional opts etc.
Honestly, the studio space for Breakfast is far from ideal. It's nowhere near as big as TC7 and has a very low ceiling. There are far, far bigger studios in use for some of the smaller TV regions, let alone for a three hour national news programme.

Does it have a motor head on it?
