Do you think they'll keep that effect on the opening titles pushing over to the right once they return to Salford? It looks much better.

Think it looks naff, would work better if it was integrated more with the globe somehow.

Surely they can fix the sound? Sounds like the're broadcasting from inside an aircraft hanger.
BBCWalesToday and MDQ1 gave kudos

I'm sure someone will pop out later and buy a pallet load of egg boxes.

Or put up some carpet or curtains on the dead walls if there isn't any there already....

Why does the studio look so dark? It's bright and sunny at 6am during this month.

Have they stuck loads of ND to the window for daytime that they can't take down?

That would be my guess, and I'm assuming they can't run their lights any lower to re-balance with outside? (Or they have to cope with a significant level change between 0600 and 0900 and have to stick with a single set-up for cost reasons?)

Not sure if they are using ND though - my guess is they would be (rather than the polarising system they used in Beijing) - but on some of the shots of the studio you see some rainbow effects which Daybreak had with their smart glass - but I doubt they've used that. Could just be the ND and window are diffracting slightly at some angles?

I know I'm not imagining this.... but there is a version of the theme music which begins with a definite BEEP BEEP before the cymbol crash into the melody. I notice that when in Salford sometimes you get the beeps, sometimes you don't. I just put that down to the sound not being raised quickly enough... but this clip seems to just definately start with the cymbol crash.

I just found this on You Tube.. someone's mock up but it has the beeps. So are there 2 versions of the theme?

What you found is our very own MDTA's suggestion for BBC Breakfast, which IMHO is better than the BBC's offering. Razz

In other news . . . the sound quality on Breakfast during their 'sojourn to Glasgee' is now irritating me. Even the OBs during the TOTH sequences sound BETTER.

BBC Breakfast sound like they are trapped in an acoustically unprepared glass box next to a . . . Oh, they are! Shocked

You are correct, the version on David Lowes site starts with the beeps, perhaps how he prefers it, Breakfast have always used the pipless version.

Much like his version of The One Show has an extra little twang before they start, which the broadcast version does not.
