How lovely for breakfast to have a decent size studio for a change!

I liked the way the Commonwealth Games logo animated on screen in the titles, nicer than the bulky Olympic logo from London 2012. The BBC News swirl was nice as a transition from titles to studio as well, hopefully it is kept after the Games but refined and using the rings from the 'orb'.

So the desk is genuinely on a slant?

So the desk is genuinely on a slant?

I think it is the design of the desk, as the bottom looks flat but each ring looks like they are tilting further and further.

The desk is horrid and looks like the kind of thing that some of the regions would have come up with if they were allowed to design their own Sunday Politics Table.

To be honest the actually floor space seems smaller than Salford!

Have to be brutal as when I turned on the box this morning I actually thought I was watching Granada Reports for a few seconds, before realising it was BBC Breakfast.

The set is very regional news (and yes I know that BBC Breakfast is normally in NWT's studio!) but it just seems too generic!

I'm not aware of any BBC regional news programme presenting from anything like the one currently being used by Breakfast in Glasgow: so in what way is it generic?

They are using the 'on location' BBC Sport studio, the same as they did for the Olympics. It's not really any more or less than was expected, is it?

The set for the studio just seems very generic - although it may not be - but it just seems to much like a regional news set (even more so when compared with certain ITV Regional news sets such as Granada)!

Its not generic its the official BBC Sport Set for the commonwealth games, the only thing BBC Breakfast have done is put a card over the BBC Sport logo.

To me I can see what people are saying when generic is used. There isn't much that screams of BBC News or Breakfast. I think a background logo or something is needed. The only thing saying breakfast is on the table front. A bit of red or orange to link it up to the original studio?

I don't think there's much the BBC can really do about rivers and city quayside buildings looking vaguely similar.

It looked to me (going by the TV Live video) that the "normal" use of the studio has the presenters slightly further round to the right, the lighting had some rather dubious shadows that could be easily lost, but I suspect it's being lit primarily for BBC Sport coverage, rather than Breakfasts. That would explain using the desk at a different position and the lighting oddities, means the Breakfast backdrop and the BBC Sport one are different, just very slightly.

Not overly impressed with the audio either, very open sounding, not an issue for their normal home, but not an issue for TC7 either, weirdness prevails.
