Any news as yet of what the changes may be? Having seen the GMB set pics, it looks much airier & bright - perhaps Breakfast could alter the very CGI looking backdrop? Maybe a new desk?
Would changing either of those elements bring in / retain the audience?
I've never met anyone who's said "I'd watch BBC Breakfast if it wasn't for the fake background".
No but I've met many who would watch Daybreak if it was presented from the Loose Women set.
I remember reading in Private Eye (though I can't remember if it was in the TV column) someone moaning about how much space the BBC were wasting with that perennially unused space "behind" the BBC Breakfast set - so at least some people seem to believe it's a real backdrop.

I believe that the correct term for these people must be "partially-sighted"...
Whatever changes (if any) there are this morning, they certainly don't seem to include any cosmetic ones (set, graphics, etc).
Maybe a few structure/running order tweaks (e.g. I think somebody in the GMB thread said that Breakfast did their newspaper review at the same time as GMB did).

Steph McGovern doing an item about utility bills a few minutes ago. Including a recorded segment done outside in the Media City plaza thingumy, with Steph walking around on an enormous (CGI) bill page, superimposed onto the ground. The fictional company name logo at the top of the page was "Steph Power Ltd"!
Live on the sofa, there was also some banter derived from the word "bill" being the same as certain Mr Turnbull's name.

Are Breakfast consciously following GMB around the country?
At around 6:50am, GMB had their item about One Direction's new music video (filmed at Clevedon Pier in Somerset).
At about the same time, Breakfast's weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was live at the Sand Sculpture Festival on Weston-super-Mare beach (which is only about 20km along the coast from Clevedon!).
This from the bottom of a BBC News article about Good Morning Britain:
Quote:
Louise Minchin has been presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Bill Turnbull since Reid left - an announcement about a permanent replacement is expected in the
autumn
.
Interesting line at the bottom of the BBC News review of GMB.

I had assumed that they had just quietly transitioned to Louise - the autumn seems a long time to wait to announce, can anyway think of a reason for this?

I had thought the same, possibly a new face? assuming here, not someone from within the BBC. Autumn does seem a while a way, with different presenters popping up often.

I agree. It would seem they're waiting for someone to 'free up'?
