just looking at some clips of the old BBC Breakkfast news. and that was great i think! i though the fact it was a new programe for most of it was intereteing, compared to brekafast now, which is one to another IMO. I think the desk presenting was much better, i though the weather at the screen seemed like more of a warming thing then standing in the rain or in the cold on TVC roof, which just made you feel bad in the morning.
i think they should bring back the old breakfast news, but keep some elements of Breakfast they have today. like the summeries at the desk, and a soft area, like the used to have on breakfast.
No, I don't agree - I like it as it is - it has the right balance of news and fluffy bits for first thing in the morning - and the sofa presenting style suits it well I think.
It's a shame they don't have Bill and whats-her-name on every day though.

Heaven forbid a weather forecast which features rain & cold!!!!

I've never really seen the point of sticking weather presenters outside away from their computers, satellite and radar equipment. Surely being able to look at a small patch of West London sky doesn't really tell you an awful lot about forecasted weather for the whole of the UK.
I suppose it's just another pointless presentation gimmick rather like news presenters standing up, or reporters standing outside empty Whitehall buildings at 10 o' clock.
I liked Breakfast News from 1997-2000. It was still a desk driven programme, but also had the sofa set.
Breakfast now, is too fluffy, and one thing which i really don't like are the news summaries - there is no need for them - they managed for over a decade with them, surely the main presenters, can read not just a top story?
I haven't heard anymore about the newsier programme that 'BBC WORLD' said on here, would be happening to Breakfast though.
BN, I haven't heard anything more either. It's now February, and although I can't actually watch Breakfast, I wonder if there have been any visible changes at all???
Saw it a few weeks back whilst I was in the UK. Found it difficult to watch and inconsistent in terms of content. The set looks ghastly and - as pointed out by several others - Dermot and Natasha just don't seem to gel.
I DO like Moira though - brings a sense of level-headedness to the proceedings.
Let me know if there are any changes taking place on Breakfast - I am keen to find out.

Bye,
James
Just before Christmas, they changed the begining, where the main anchors will somtimes do 2 stories from the sofa, before going over to the newsdesk. And at half past the hour they do the top story - but these are only minor things.
A couple of other points to add to my original post - i don't like the sofa driven look, there are no headlines at .15, and .45, and the paper review they did on Breakfast News was great - bring it back!
