Frankly I think all the BBC News studios resemble a Soviet war bunker since the revamp last year.

i think that's right, the same could also be said of the itv news studio, which quite frankly looks horridly lit.

but i have to say, when i tuned into breakfast this morning i thought it looked drab, titles and on screen pres is fine - nothing spectacular but ok. the black clock is a bit harsh but it's something you can get used to, but as has been mentioned, i wished they'd carpet that battleship grey piece of the floor.

The headline beds and post title beds sound out of place. For this particular set of titles it would be better if the beds from 2003 were used if anything else as this title music is the basic 2003 tune only with parts from 2006 laid over it but recognisably the same tune. Its sort of the same as what they did to the 1999 regions tune to bring it back in 2008.

ah but the clock background is transparent on the NC. if they did the same for the Breakfast clock it would certainly take the "edge" off it, just looks too severe at the mo, IMHO

No it's not, it's solid. Unless you're looking at a different news channel.

Is it me or is Kate sitting on a cushion (or just more upright)? She looks higher than Bill (especially if you look at the knee line between them).

Also - re the clock: when passing to Look North Leeds, the clock and title strap swap places - do the regions get briefed of changes, so that there is uniformity on presentation?

I actually quite like the backdrop, to me it has a bit of an N8 feel to it with the colour scheme and I also think that with the brightness toned down a bit and minus the sunset would make a better backdrop for the BBC News channel actually! Would quite like to see it on the N6 walls, albeit the brighter colours might show the mismatched panels a bit more on those older BARCO screens - that don't self calibrate themselves.

Does anyone know if they propose using the new backdrop for the weekend Breakfast programmes from N6? It would create further uniformity between the two studios IMO.

IMO they should use that backdrop on the News channel permanently. As i've said with the brightness toned down a bit and a day time and night time version it would look really nice. Smile

Yes, you've mentioned that several times already. Enough.

Are you suggesting that there is something wrong with the screens as they are?
