"Mum-of-three Susanna Reid, 39, is now being lined up as the main female presenter." - Oh dear, she goes from bad to worse with her long-winded questions and patronising, "talking down" attitude. More suited to CBeebies than News!
And so it begins as we see the fallout from the move to Salford.
It will be sad to see Sian Williams leave the programme, but she had already made it clear that her decision would be motivated by the wishes of her children, and the need to avoid any disruption to their education. I don't think that she has ever expressed any particular dislike for the North of England.
Hollins, on the other hand, has been quite vociferous: his London-centric objections to moving anywhere north of the M25 haven't increased the membership tally of his fan club, and I don't think he'll be missed.
Sian will be missed but I can't see the programme suffering from it. As I said in the Daybreak thread, unlike Daybreak, the presenters on Breakfast are made bigger than the programme.

I would be very surprised if Sian did publicly express dislike for Northern England because she spent the early part of her career in Liverpool working as a producer for BBC Radio Merseyside. I wrote to Sian about 10 years ago for an autograph and she wrote me a lovely letter back saying how fondly she remembers working in this area. So, I agree that it's most likely down to not wanting to uproot from her life in London. It's a big ask when you've settled and started a family.
I completely agree about Chris Hollins being no great loss to the programme. Frankly, ever since he was on Strictly Come Dancing, he's been painful to watch. He comes across as very smarmy and far too big for his boots; so much so that I have to turn over when he comes on with the sport.

Absolutely. I used to really like Susannah Reid but recently she's become very aloof and patronising. And it's not just me who thinks this - without any prompting, my mum recently said the same thing to me. I wonder if the fame has gone to her head? Before she landed Breakfast, she was pretty much unknown and she was a lot more down-to-earth then.
Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I like Chris Hollins. I don't see any marked change in his behaviour - he was always playful and cheeky. I expect he's not the greatest font of knowledge about sport - but as I'm not really interested in sport I don't mind that either.
Sad that Sian is going, but Susanna is ok - better with Bill than with Charlie, as I still find him a little "above it all".
Conversely I don't find Susanna condescending at all.
I'm just assuming this, but won't Kate Silverton be at Salford on Sundays because of her 5 Live show? Perhaps she could, although I don't like her, and therefore don't want her to.

If Charlie doesn't end up moving to Salford, I wonder who the new weekend MALE presenter will be? Hopefully someone like Nicholas Owen who deserves a regular BBC One slot IMO.
Although it doesn't mention whether Charlie is moving.
This from Sian:
She added: "Sadly, family reasons mean I can't move to Salford with the programme next year. My son will be in the middle of A- level exams, another will have just started school and our family also needs to be close to elderly parents in the South East.
"I've been very privileged to spend the past decade on the sofa as the viewers' representative, asking the questions they want answered, whether it's to the Prime Minister or a Hollywood film star, and I'm looking forward to using those skills in fresh challenges elsewhere in the BBC."
Good heavens!!! Its only a human being who has decided not to relocate with her job! Its only Sian Williams, for gawd's sake. Its not like someone's shot Mother Teresa. Sian is leaving. Someone else will take over. Bill will have a new partner. Sian will probably take over from George on the Six. Nothing to see, folks. Move along. (Says me, after three crates of Shiraz........). Who is Sian anyway?
A long serving presenter leaving is quite a significant event for any programme but as this is happening at the same time as the programme is getting a new studio, a new location and presumably quite a few behind the scenes staff changes too, it all adds up to a very different Breakfast.
