Yes. There's this (quite nice) sunrisey office block behind them, and they seem to be sat in the dark corner under the stairs with a couple of desk lamps so we can see them.

I think it needs a little more colour in there too. If there's a dark orange (L158?) in the scrollers for the top of the screens could help. The desk surround should be a few shades lighter too.

Look, I think you've rather missed the point.

Breakfast is not the sort of TV programme you sit down on your sofa and watch, if you do you've obviously got far too much time on your hands, and therefore the clock is probably superfluous anyway.

In its present form, it's actually the most legible and visible it's been in the 26 year history of the programme. It's now the highest possible contrast, and I can read it easily from the bathroom when I'm about 20ft from the bedroom telly. Finally there is a piece of TV graphics that puts functionality above form !

Indeed, the project is still out in the tender stage.

Yesterday the black clock did seem a bit of a shock - yes, national mourning was brought to mind! But this morning it looked ok. Just a case of getting used to something new. I hope they don't change it now as it's be a knee-jerk reaction.

One thing worth remembering is that this visual refresh will probably only last a year and a half (or so), until BBC News moves to it's new home at Broadcasting House.

This raises questions, such as...

Will they keep the Barco's when they move?
Will the new facilities be HDTV capable?
Will the "Breakfast" production staff consider doing the show in front of a window, not unlike the Yank breakfast-time programmes?

I'm not even sure the BBC brass has the answers to questions such as these yet.

I doubt any decisions on set design have been made yet, so you can't expect them to answer at this very early stage.

As for HD capability, I'd say that was almost a certainty. I can't see the BBC kitting out new studios with only SD kit.

I very much doubt there would be a Good Morning America style window, certainly not at pavement level, as extra security staff would be required to prevent members of their public displaying their anuses to the nation's breakfasting millions.

I think the lighting in TC7 generally looks a bit on the gloomy side.

Just watching back the 8am TOTH this morning, seems Kate left her breakfast on the table, a lovely fruit box!

Also the volume of the title music was pushed up after the titles, a second before it crashes into the bed so we get this surge of 'woosh', not sure if its deliberate, but sounded a bit weird as the post title 'pips' over the pan of the studio weren't as loud.

I quite like the black clock by the way, its a nice contrast to the background.

Well I like the new set but I don't like the TOTH, it all seems very cobbled together and it's as if they're just chucking in a bit of this and a bit of that

A black clock is not new! What colour is the clock on the BBC News Channel? Smile

ah but the clock background is transparent on the NC. if they did the same for the Breakfast clock it would certainly take the "edge" off it, just looks too severe at the mo, IMHO
