Still interested in how they're going to work weekends in Salford - it wouldn't make any sense from a production side to have weekends remain in London, but presumably having a Salford studio operational in addition to the News Channel a few hours later would be a huge backwards step in cost savings?

On a separate note, anyone else suspect George Riley's likely to get the Sports job if Hollins doesn't go? He's on Breakfast already as a relief sports presenter and is presumably moving with Five Live to Salford anyway?

Then again, presumably weather and business will all be down the line from London, given Carol and Simon's News Channel commitments?

A very odd choice of programme to move, given everything. We'll wait and see.

Riley is a given, with his RL interest.

What about that Tanya bird from Look North land?

I think the key words in that article are 'indicated' and 'rumoured'. There have been so many stories and rumors flying about regarding who has confirmed what. I don't think I'll believe any of them until the BBC tells us!

Must have been filling in for someone. As he is now on World with the daytime business coverage.

I'm sure they'll cover it - but in a much reduced way. The BBC's newsgathering budget has been blown wide open after the Chile miners' story and now the whole of north Africa and the Middle East rising up in righteous indignation.

They're having to scale back all sorts of other stuff to save money.

In other words, just Peter Bowes & Rajesh Merchandani, who are over there anyway?

I would imagine so, although I'm not privy to the inner workings of the BBC News planning department. Pure speculation on my part.

Although, let's be honest, it's no great loss to anyone other than Susanna Reid. Is there any real added value to sending someone out from London? The BBC has two LA correspondents who are perfectly capable of covering the story - and I'm sure Tom Brook will go over from New York as well.

Interesting article in today's Guardian. Bill and Susanna have apparently agreed to move to Salford.
