Why don't they put some white carpet down or something to cover up that nasty painted grey baking tray with black lines all over it? Would make it look a bit warmer.

It has an industrial reception look about it to me. Not very warm at all.

I'm no art teacher, but surely to Jeebus that word you're all struggling to find is "soft" not "warm".

It doesn't look cold in any way. The colour palette has red and orange in it, and barely a hint of anything at the cooler end of the spectrum.

One thing worth remembering is that this visual refresh will probably only last a year and a half (or so), until BBC News moves to it's new home at Broadcasting House.

This raises questions, such as...

Will they keep the Barco's when they move?
Will the new facilities be HDTV capable?
Will the "Breakfast" production staff consider doing the show in front of a window, not unlike the Yank breakfast-time programmes?

I'm not even sure the BBC brass has the answers to questions such as these yet.

BH won't be ready til 2012 so that's a bit more than a year and a half!!!

Here's my thoughts on the new look:

Graphics on-screen look fine to me (I don't mind the black clock, and although it looks slightly odd, I think it's nice to see 'BBC Breakfast' sat next to the clock on the astons).

Titles I'm not so sure - a bit too glitter-ball for me and don't really mean much. Yet, I think they're far better than the "film reel of sunrises" we had previously.

I don't like this new practice of starting the headline vamp after the first line of the headline - the first line is "Welcome to Breakfast...bla...bla...." and then the vamp should kick in. The title music also doesn't seem to start very well and clashes with the headline bed. The sting also seems a bit short and slightly odd that there's no "Breakfast" in there at all.

Backdrop isn't too bad until we get to the close-ups of the presenters. Not sure how this could be done, but maybe they could move the presenters' shot away from the corner as that seems to be what the problem is. I actually didn't have a problem with the previous backdrop - as someone said before, it was "cosy".

I think that's all I have to say about it really.

I think the background is better but know what you mean. The whole thing still feels cold even though they have a sofa. It's felt cold to me for the last few years and has never had the warmth of the GMTV sofa.

As someone has already mentioned, I really enjoyed this era of Breakfast. A good, WARM set, that isn't just a sofa and desk like today. It was more of a studio than today. Also, good graphics and music.

I hoped that Breakfast would have reverted back to its former glory today. Having said that, BBC Breakfast is still a good show. I hope they do make a few adjustments, however, having seen today's offering, especially that clock and "BBC Breakfast" graphics combination. I hate that. They should also make the globe smaller on the endboard, as it clashes with the BREAKFAST text. I was hoping for a better effort on the studio, also.

I think the crashing in of the 2006 music over the 2003/2000 music sounds stupid. I think they should have just used the new mix of the first generation breakfast music without trying to mash it up with the 2006 look after all they would still sound modern just updated. The 2003 headline bed would probably be the one that suits these titles.

I'm confused to how people can call this set cold, when the era shown in the image above described as warm is cold blues and whites?!

Regarding music, I think it sounds like a more polished version of the 2006 theme, and the new elements introduced from the 2002/2003 package adds a more classic breakfast feel to it.

From that cap I think it may be the red that's the problem - it's just a bit harsh. Even keeping that newsroom backdrop but changing the red for something less harsh, like the previous orange, would soften it up a bit and probably make quite a difference.

Yes, turning back time.

That'll help.
