Has anyone considered that interviews could easily be pre-recorded the day before and then simply played out on the next show? Saves the need for anyone to get up Manchester for 8:30.

Bit boring having pre-recorded interviews isn't it? Pre-recorded or down the line interviews will affect the show badly IMHO.

Anyway, how is it any easier getting to Manchester the day before than it is on the day? Not to mention an interview about current affairs recorded the day before could be useless by the next morning. The Big Breakfast did recorded interviews sometimes and the join was always obvious.

Makes you wonder about the logistics of this, I presume we'll still see 4 presenters, will the weekend programmes come from Manchester or from the BHNC?

The Devils in the detail.

they will struggle getting guests such as members of the cabinet

When did you last see a politician in TC7 for Breakfast? They're almost all done down the line from Millbank or as an OB.

It's a 4 and half to five hour round trip from London to Manchester by train. You're going to have to be pretty committed to bother to make that.

If they want more interesting backdrops, I'd like to have seen them do something next year in readiness for the Olympics - perhaps get a permanent position in place somewhere in Stratford for doing all the breakfast and news channel sports bulletins, for example.

If this entails building a new studio perhaps it won't be the only show to move - Working Lunch as well maybe?

...or an hour each way by air.

It all depends how desperate they are to get free publicity for their book/CD/film/programme.

Yes, an hour if you have a private plane and no check in to trouble yourself with.

When did your last 1 hour flight get done in less than 3?

So now all the presenters and the behind the scenes team have to move and live there?? Wow. Shocked

Apparently London and Manchester are "an hour apart", so I'm sure its no bother.

It's not a third world country!

Plenty of people have to move around the country to keep their jobs.

There is no 'apparently' about it. I Googled the flight details before I posted my comment.

I was just thinking, this could work to their advantage. Most shows are in London so get the same guests. Maybe Breakfast will end up having more 'exclusives' because if the guest is in Manchester then they can't be in London on all the other shows too - at least not on the same day. Breakfast already have occasional interviews with people who have London based shows or exhibitions on who don't, to my knowledge, appear on any other TV shows. I assume we will see interviews with Manchester based people who have local productions running. It will be a bit Manchester centric but apparently that is okay.
