If I'm being honest I fell the current line up is not best it could be but it the job. Sian should move to News at Six and Charlie to the News Channel. Bill should just go somewhere else perhaps also the News Channel. Susanna should then go to weekday and be joined by someone new (perhaps Nicholas Owen or Jon Sopel) and then add Simon and Carrie to the weekend team.
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to have a refresh in the line-up. I also find Charlie Stayt to be incredibly surly and very serious at times; he's not ready to take a joke, and seems quite condescending.
Moving Sian up would be a good idea. I've always found her good on the Nationals, but she works extremely well on Breakfast as well. Her relationship with Bill is a great one as well. I wouldn't like to split them up.
Susanna is a very capable, and very professional presenter, so I feel she definitely needs more work with the BBC.
Simon & Carrie. What can I say? My favourite two anchors of the News Channel. They are exciting, engaging and really great to watch. It's great to see their mix between journalism and light banter early in the morning. Promoting them to the BBC Breakfast weekend team would be a very good idea. They deserve the credit for their excellent work. I've always thought Carrie Gracie should be used more.
All in all, Breakfast doesn't need to put up much of a fight with the new ITV show. Just mostly subtle changes should do it. I do think that when they move into the Broadcasting House, the studios will (hopefully) be more useable and less boring than the Barco boxes that are
N6 and TC7, which are incredibly uninspiring. The breakfast set is inarguably the most boring it has ever been, but I realise not much can be done, given time constraints. But a little more effort to spruce up the studio slightly, include more exciting, engaging content, as well as a slightly lighter approach would do wonders to the show. For one, get rid of Charlie 'moody' Stayt.
I'd be interested to hear what other improvements or thoughts you have for the programme.
