I don't think it's "hatred" as such - that's reserved for Natasha Kaplinsky and Susan Osmand. I think the problem a lot of people have with Kate is that she isn't as smooth reading an autocue or interviewing as other presenters, such as Mishal Husain, Sophie Raworth, Sian Williams etc.
Therefore it seems odd that Kate get good "gigs", as you so eloquently put, sidelining the likes of Louise Minchin, Jane Hill and Sian Williams in the process.

I'd hardly say Kate's had a lot of good "gigs", particularly in recent times. I might be mistaken but I'm always wondering what she actually does when she's not reading the news. She's been part of those 'Big Cat Live' things but other than that, what significant jobs has she had? She's certainly no Natasha with Eurovision and Strictly or even Fiona Bruce for that matter.

The last few months her role seems to have diminished, but presenting Breakfast and BBC News at One are pretty big jobs, even if only for a few months. Since that ended Louise Minchin seems to have just disappeared too, with Kate replacing her on the BBC News at One and often on Breakfast. Anyone know where Louise is, by the way? The afternoon slot on the NC seems the most popular for the "over-50s" presenters, so I was wondering if Louise has moved to part-time or something?

Louise has been on most afternoons that I have been watching - the over 50s only seem to be on during the holiday periods. She did four weeks of something like missing live (I forget the name of it) a few weeks ago. This year, she has been used a fair bit on weekend breakfast instead of Naga.
Isn't society sad when we have to specifically refer to the "over 50's" in our posts? (Not having a go at any of the members here, by the way, but merely pointing out how ridiculous that even the BBC in the year 2010 makes such a big thing about people's age!!)
Can Newsmonkey, Noggin and/or anyone else confirm/deny a planned relaunch of BBC Breakfast for September, involving more news coverage and new graphics? The competition seem to think it's happening...

Oh I do hope not! I don't believe Breakfast have anything to worry about with Bleakley and Chiles. I feel far too much hype will be the failing of this pairing, and they're certainly no match for Bill and Sian.
That's Tanya Arnold, who last I saw did the Sport on Look North (and moving away from Sheffield a year old it's been a while since I last saw LN). On Look North she was excellent, so it's nice to see her on Breakfast.
