Slightly different graphics today?! Im watching on BBC One London - its got the BBC News Channel logo and clock....and the "BBC Breakfast" graphic isn't coming up underneath it....is this a recent change?

Ah, I thought there was something a little odd about it - there was also a very thin (probably 1px) gap between the BBC and News part of the DOG.

There was no clock at all until 7.30, with Sian and Simon saying that the "Clock was broken" and giving very regular timechecks. It would appear that the News24 clock/dog solution is the best they can manage for the time being.

The clock was there between 6am and the 6:57 opt. It was when they came back at 7am that the clock had trouble appearing. The broken clock should have been the top story IMHO.

There was a nice moment at 07:17 when Bill Turnbull gave a time check using the town hall clock from the OB in Carmarthen.

Nice to see Charlie out of the studio today...i can't remember if i've seen him out before? - I wonder if we'll get Mike at 8.30 doing what Chris normally does?

I thought that too but I guess in news terms today is not like any other B Hol as being so close to an Election and so much going on it probably warranted being in it's usual home.

Probably done to allow News 24 to opt-out should anything significant happen.

This morning Sian is at Westminster, Bill at Downing street, Chris in Hamburg, and weather coming from the weather studio. From about 8:50am onwards Bill arrived at Westminster for the remainder of the programme. With almost all of it coming from location is the programme being controlled from the Westminster OB or is it going via the News Channel gallery?

It looks like Breakfast is continuing on the News Channel, with Breakfast graphics still being in use. Will be interesting to see whether Breakfast will be extended beyond 9:15am, or if they'll hand over to a 'BBC News special', as they're currently waiting for Nick Clegg to arrive in Downing Street.

Edit @ 09:11am: The News Channel DOG and ticker has appeared on screen, forming on top of the Breakfast clock.

Great to see the News Channel employing Sian and Bill's services after Breakfast. Sian and Bill now anchoring events from Westminster into the morning.

Shows like these would always go through a news gallery on their way to network and/or the news channel. The gallery would play-in recorded material, add graphics, allow interviews with other outside broadcasts etc. If there are multiple cameras on location there will usually be a small on-site gallery (usually in a sat truck with a tiny vision mixer) which will just cut between the cameras on-site. You wouldn't have space for production teams, have a fully-networked playout server, multiple Viz engines and have lots of incoming OS lines in a small on-site production gallery - and there would be no point as you would just be duplicating what you had at TVC.

The David Dimbleby Specials presented from the Westminster bubble studio had a small operation with a director cutting between the cameras on-site, but the actual programme was produced and directed from a news gallery at TVC. (The "spare" gallery I believe)

The same techniques are also used when The Andrew Marr Show or The Politics Show appear to be presented entirely from a location.
