As with all revamps things get tweaked after the first outing (some of which might even be changed for tomorrow morning) and others get changed gradually along the way. Watch this space!
You might want to send some of the new graphics up to Look North (Newcastle). They still had the old orange logo on their projector screen this morning.
As someone who hates virtually every aspect of the "new look" BBC News had last April, unsurprisingly I hate virtually every aspect of this.
The titles start promising, but then revert to the generic mess which just, well basically, looks ****! The studio is sterile and hideous while the black clock is the sort of thing that leaves you wondering who's died. Not appropriate at all for a Breakfast programme.
I don't see "cold", and I don't see "sterile". Its not awesome, but its not bad.
I agree. And to be fair, I don't think you're ever going to get 'awesome' when your backdrop is a projected image. I think given the limitations of the N6 / TC7 Barco setup, they've come up with a look that's just about as good as you're likely to get. Certainly a vast improvement on the previous look.
Personally, I've got nothing against the new look. I see it as a nice revert back to the glory days. The black clock doesn't bother me at all. I'm I the only one who things black is a warm colour?
Personally I don't mind the black clock, although I can see how some feel it's a bit too sombre. I was never a fan of the orange one though. I thought it looked a bit too 'Easyjet' or 'Sainsbury's Economy'.
The first 8 seconds of the new titles are fantastic...then it goes a bit 'urgh'. It appears that they haven't even tried to integrate the logos into the titles resulting in a messy conclusion. The overlap between 'Breakfast' and the globe/mirrorball looks sloppy.
Not sure about the studio. Modern, yes. Friendly, no.
All in all, not a disaster and some elements look great (that includes the clock!). But, dare I say, GMTV is now looking better, or at least friendlier, than its nemesis?
