Well I have to say i rather like it...gives it a bit more of a serious feel...but again, i go back to the point of having only one pres area...looks fine during the newsy parts, but doesnt somehow feel right during the post 8.30 slot....

i wonder if it's just a different mix of the same theme or a new theme, but i like it!
i wonder if it will be on David Lowes...

The new set looks great, but for a breakfast programme I think it's not very pleasant to see the backdrop of the grey newsroom (not that grey on NC though, but still it's rather cold) every morning. Also, the titles are a bit boring IMO.
EDIT: If they want Breakfast in this colour tone, then bringing back the 2005 package would be wonderful.

The backdrop is reminiscent of the 2004 look...

..But it looks too dark and drab. The views of guests looks better than the main shot, with the red and yellow hanging panels in shot (perhaps it would improve if they added a few more of them to the virtual newsroom to give some more splashes of colour).
The previous backdrop based on the titles looked amateurish, but I reckon if they made one completely based on the new titles it could look pretty good.
Agreed that it looks slightly wrong having the newsroom backdrop after 8.00. And the clock definitely shouldn't be black.
Titles are nice, though! Again, they remind me of the original Breakfast titles.

I like the new titles, music and website update (you've missed the 'Celebrity Guests' button newsmonkey
) but for me using a newsroom background just doesn't work - the screens (oh god I'm turning into Worzel) look dreadful, and I'll never understand the appeal of mimicking a newsroom or skyline background, only to have images slide in and out of it, completely unrealistic. The background is much better than before though.
Interesting to hear Bill's remarks about 'new screens' followed by Kate's mumblings and gesture about the sofa - I'm guessing she's not a fan of sitting on it for 3 hours each weekday?
And I agree with others about the clock - looks really weird and has to be one of the only 'new white and red relaunch' BBC News programs to of adopted this style? Then again is it needed like that for handing to the regions - for example 'BBC Look North' is a different size on its box thing to 'BBC Newsline' and you can't have the clock shifting along each time it hands to independent regions?
All in all I'm sure BBC Executives are happy with it and it is a vast improvement than before, but feels a bit cold and serious for Breakfast...

I rather like the new look - a definite improvement.
The previous titles always looked a bit cheap, and the rather flat background made the studio look smaller and more enclosed. The new background is much brighter and gives a greater impression of space - something they've been really lacking since abandoning presentation from the desk area.
I don't agree the background is too newsy - it seems quite bright and breezy to me, especially with the red and yellow panels and the sunrise in the background.
Despite mis-captioning him, it was nice to see they got Rod Hull to appear on the first show too...
Lovely touch.

As with all revamps things get tweaked after the first outing (some of which might even be changed for tomorrow morning) and others get changed gradually along the way. Watch this space!
