Isn't Breakfast much better in N6? I think it looked much better. The backdrop looks excellent. Much better than in that terrible TC7. The sport and business looked better, being presented either end of the desk.

I remember when Bill was presenting the US election coverage on Breakfast. The Washington studio looked good then. I really wish they had a studio similar to the World News America studio.

Also, welcome back Sian. Much better than Kate Silverton. Kate seems so stuck-up and snobbish.

I think they need to use TC7 more effectively. Why they don't use the desk I don't know. The first hour could be presented from the desk, then they could move to the sofa. Perhaps the business could come from the desk too, rather than awkwardly standing in the centre. I'd also argue a The Andrew Marr Show type carpet under the sofa would make the place look a bit nicer, rather than the battleship grey tea-tray.

I always said that the business should have been presented from the desk. It's much better for guests, and the shots and angles for the camera would be much easier. As for decorating the set, I think they should take a leaf out of Andrew Marr's book. You wouldn't think that is TC7 when Andrew Marr is on. Some carpet, and other decorative features, would make the show much more inviting and more aesthetic. The backdrop today looked much better in N6, IMO.

Thing is that TC7 isn't used on a Saturday AFAIK, so there is plenty of time to redress the set for Marr and the Politics Show. There's not much time between Newsnight and Breakfast going on air to change the set.

But, before the days of cost saving, Newsnight and Breakfast used to come from TC7 with totally different sets. It's certainly not beyond the realms of practicality sticking a bit of carpet under the sofa on the baking tray, which would improve the look. And I think they could make much better use of the space. 6.00-7.30 primarily from the desk, 7.30-8.00 from the sofa, 8.00-8.15 desk, after the 8.15 weather move to the sofa for the rest of the show.

True- there was time for an entire set change back then! Wink

So good to see Sian back this morning - Bill seems very pleased to have her back!

It would seem so... he even said so on his Twitter account on Saturday:

Back from a delightful week away in Italy with Mrs T, just in time for the return of the wonderful Sian Williams. Roll on Monday...

Yes. I remember the time Breakfast had to use Newsnight's purple sofa as theirs was stuck behind a door that couldn't be opened!
