Seriously it beggars belief BBC News choose to cast the most useless and unknown presenters to Breakfast each summer. Jon Kaye and Naga Munchetty are absolutely awful, and offer a good reason to switch channels. It's the UK's most watched Breakfast show, so why not treat it with the respect it deserves and give us some half decent presenters.

Simon McCoy and Carrie Gracie would be an awesome pairing on the sofa for example.

Aghhhh!

Rant over - does anyone know when Sian is back?

The business news now has it's own (mini) tall circular table. I'm not sure if there's a monitor in it as it has a dark glass surface.

It's about time they put something there - it needed some furniture to make it less empty!

Simon and Carrie would be a reason to wake up to Breakfast. Since Jon Kay and Naga Munchetty have started presenting i've found that i'm watching GMTV more. Sian is also likely to be back at the end of August if she has the same maternity leave as Sophie Raworth did last year.

Wasn't Simon the Sunrise presenter before Eamon Holmes? Perhaps he wanted out of early mornings when he made the move to BBC.

Before Before Eammon if you get what I mean Very Happy

Simon has done Breakfast occasionally since joining the BBC. When he first joined he was the weekend relief presenter until Charlie Stayt joined the BBC. I remember him presenting on Boxing Day 2004 (the tsunami). I think he also did Breakfast one weekend after Charlie got promoted to regular weekend presenter last year

But yes he may not want to do early mornings (though I bet he still has to get up early for his news channel shift). He would have been an obvious candidate for relief presenter this week

Simon has definitely presented Breakfast before, I would be nice to see him back though, I suppose I might not have wanted to do early mornings anymore. Carrie Gracie should get more of a profile on BBC One, she is a fantastic presenter but she only presents the News channel! Sad

This Week's presenters for Breakfast:

Friday - Sunday: Chris Hollins & Naga Munchetty Sad
Monday: Robert Hall & Kate Silverton Confused
Tuesday - Thursday: Charlie Stayt & Kate Silverton Smile
Friday: Chris Hollins & Susanna Reid Confused

Robert Hall?!?! My they are scraping the barrel, whatever happened to Jon? If Emily presented with him it would inject some humour in my mornings!

Jon is apparently doing at least one Newsnight (assuming you mean Jon Sopel)

Jon Sopel: Friday Very Happy
Nick Robinson: Monday & Tuesday Smile
Martha Kearney: Wednesday & Thursday Confused

Martha Kearney: Wednesday & Thursday Confused

I know this is the wrong thread anyway, but what's 'confusing' about Martha Kearney presenting Newsnight? She's it's former Political Editor, a former regular relief presenter, and still presents Newsnight Review from time to time. I'd say Robinson and Sopel are the more unusual choices.
