This has already been suggested: can't he sit at the desk at the other side of the studio? It seems much more practical. Neither the presenter or guest has to stand up. The presenter has the Barcos either side to show graphics, and he can conduct interviews there as well. Much easier than this new arrangement they're going for.

Do they still have a desk on Breakfast?

The desk is still there from the previous evening's Newsnight, it's just not used during Breakfast. It was shown once during a wide shot of the studio when they had an artist in doing a painting of the presenters.

It would certainly look more professional if Simon Jack and his guest sat at the desk rather than just loiter in the middle of the studio.

It probably isn't moved during the week as that odd contraption of oversized coins on Working Lunch probably fits around it.

It must be moved at weekends though to accommodate the set furniture for The Politics Show on Sunday afternoons.

On a side note interesting to see interaction between the news channel presenters and Bill/Kate at 8.30 today- they had been discussing a story about attraction through smell just beforehand, and when the usual plug for the news channel starting came up, Simon McCoy was clearly doing a smelling uder the arms action, followed by Simon and Rachel both waving to camera when Kate reffered to them. First time I've seen the news channel presenters acknowledge the plug by Breakfast.

I remember when they did a bit about hugging just before 8.30, I think it was Bill and Louise and when they showed the NC there was Simon and Carrie hugging away and as they cut away from breakfast Bill and Louise were hugging aswell. There's also been many an occasion where we've seen Simon getting his make-up done and Carrie pointing and laughing

I really enjoy the banter between Simon and his fellow presenter, usually Carrie. It's great to watch. He's a legend.

The Barco screens broke down live on air at about 7.27am this morning.

They were working again after about 10 minutes.

Also this morning, interesting to note that it was Asha Tana reporting on the top story...she of Five/Sky News, though believe she's a freelancer now.

It was very strange to see Breakfast with a black background.

I remember Asha as a reporter for BBC SE pre 2005. I suppose she takes work wherever she can get it now.
