Any ideas why Breakfast are using the night time backdrop this morning?

EDIT: Using it on the NC too, guess they're having some problems with the barcos

Looks like there are problems generating any astons at all on Breakfast for far. No clock, no dog, no astons on either the NC or BBC1.

EDIT - Bill has apologised and explained that 'the machine is broken'. LOL!

One imagines it might look like an old Kenco vending machine!

I have noticed that for the last few weeks on Breakfast at the weekend, they've had the night-time backdrop on the left-hand side, with the new Breakfast background on the other Barcos.

Just a note of clarification (although its not particularly important), but the Barcos are merely display devices, so its more likely they are having trouble with the apparatus (a server and some kind of matrix) which sends an image to them.

There's every chance that the matrix is also made by Barco - but the problem isn't likely to be the projector cubes themselves.

Yes goldfish97 - your original message was totally misleading and completely uncalled for! How dare you blame the barcos themselves?!

Laughing Sorry for taking the mic Gavin Scott...

Oh god... better make sure I don't anger the unions, we wouldn't want the barco screens going on strike would we? Wink

Interesting to see in the Radio Times that Jon Kay and Naga Munchetty are down to present Bank Holiday Breakfast - they must be quite short of presenters.

Next weeks TV Choice shows the Bank Holiday Breakfast continuing until 9.15. It usually eneds at 9am on bank holidays

Naga did a decent enough job on her first Brekkie outing a few weeks back.

Jon Kay has been doing the shift after the News at Six so far this week with Annita McVeigh. Seems to be quite competent.

Jon Kay has popped up several times over the last year on the weekend evening slot on the BBC News Channel and has been very good. His relaxed presenting style is well suited for Breakfast, so it should be interesting to see. He is also an excellent reporter for the South West.

I think Jon Kay started doing relief presenting in around 2001. I definitely remember it was during the pre-2003 version of N8, that's for sure.
