I know, but are they suitable for Breakfast? At TVC they could go from their couch in TV7 to the desk at the other side of TC7 to N8 or any other free studio. There aren't any other news studios, are there?

Are the font and other changes to the on screen graphics for Breakfast being rolled out the news channel, newsnight, national, regional bulletins, etc

There is no font change. The graphics are exactly the same as they were in London, just in HD. The only changes are exclusive to breakfast and that is just new titles and stings, and new Business graphics.

So the talk about ditching Gill Sans for straps and graphics was mistaken?

To clarify - yes there are new lower thirds for the whole of BBC News HD which ditch Gill Sans. These will first air in September when World moves to W1. The rest of BBC News / Breakfast / Regions will get the new straps in 2013.

However in the mean time, the current straps from network have just been re-created/upscaled in HD as the new ones are still in the design stages for W1. As a result, Breakfast won't look that different tomorrow.

Ah that makes sense now! It will be interesting to see World News simulcasting with the News Channel, and the new straps/graphics. Can I ask if this ditching Gill Sans is a set in stone decision? Of course Futura or Johnston would be a nice compliment to the Gill Sans brand fonts, but perhaps instead of ditching the font, the designers could bring in an alternative "cut" of it, and a purging of all ultra bold and extra bold variants!

Gill Sans Pro is much nicer than Gill Sans MT or Linotype's version.

They could just use the secondary NWT studio, if things got desperate and send them to the newsroom.

They could use Newsround the BBC Sport centre studios, or just use some from of virtual set-up.

They'd get around it anyway.
