I enjoyed the Nick and Naga pairing on Saturday morning, too. Nick embarrassed Naga at one point by saying "Isn't she beautiful?" Laughing

They definitely are better together than Bill and Susanna. I like Charlie and Louise together - I think they'd be better in the week with Nick and Naga at weekends.

Today they were great. That bit near the end about the swords in the tai chi and the cheeky comments from Naga to Nick and Nick to Naga. They seem to genuinely get on well!

I have to say Nick is underused, and seems to do lighter news equally as well as rolling news and bulletins. I wonder how he'd work in a same-gender pairing?

You say underused, but perhaps part of his contract stipulates that he's not there constantly. He's done years of heading up bulletins and daily rolling news. Perhaps he just wants to do weekends.

Of course we don't know whether it's his choice or theirs. However, it would be great to see him more.

Has anyone learnt any lessons from the failure of Daybreak. The obsession of Image over content and trust on this forum is utterly hilarious!

Shall we open a book then on when Breakfast will return to London due to further cost savings and integrating Breakfast with the BBC News team?

It's so ironic that with all these shows moving to Salford to make the BBC less London centric the BBC are doing as much as possible to ensure viewers don't notice the difference. This generic design is long due the axe and the new studio just looks like a step back to the current one - funny isn't it how it just looks like a cheap regional rip off of the national look! Laughing

You have being saying this for 8 years and in that time BBC news. Breakfast and NC have grown in popularity. Very Happy
And should you be making predictions after your Adrian/Christine and Daybreak will be a a success predictions Shocked Generally there isn't anyone worse at making predictions than you.

Did I really say that oh member of four weeks?

And this is a presentation format first and foremost - I don't think anyone here has ever particularly correlated presentation with ratings and success.

I was under the impression the move to Salford would mean we would have a real backdrop for once, a la Daybreak . Bit disappointed we have to put up with the fake backdrop for longer.

Yeah because that's been such a success Smile

That was only because they didn't realise how dark it would be in the autumn and winter mornings. When it was lighter it looked fantastic with the view of St. Paul's. Of course they've made it worse with the higher sofa and the overlays. But just because they messed it up doesn't mean it automatically looks rubbish if anyone else tries it.

Now that the main bulletins will have a real newsroom view it's going to be a bit naff with Breakfast still having a fake backdrop, especially with the new backdrop looking even faker than before.

The move to Salford doesn't seem to have affected Paul Lewis' appearances on programme. He's on tomorrow morning.

Not long to go at all now!

I'm looking forward to it!

Not just because of the new presentation elements (new set, tweaked titles) but because it'll be interesting to see how the programme works from Salford.

I wish it luck, because I think it's developed into a very well balanced and self-confident offering over the past few years, but at the same time I see it as a bit of a gamble for the Beeb!

The big tech thing for me, is the HD question, just how many reports from beyond Salford, and on tape will be native HD, or will these until BH opens be upscaled. Just how much of the ;back office' work is to be done in London will be telling in this respect.

Although I doubt he will be appearing on the sofa on Saturdays anymore as he has confirmed Moneybox is to remain in London.

One area which should see some change is more variety (or at least to begin with) in the newspaper reviewers.
