From which studio did the original Breakfast Time come from, in the days of Frank Bough and Selina Scott? Was that even at TVC, or somewhere else in London?
BR
Shall we open a book then on when Breakfast will return to London due to further cost savings and integrating Breakfast with the BBC News team?
It's so ironic that with all these shows moving to Salford to make the BBC less London centric the BBC are doing as much as possible to ensure viewers don't notice the difference. This generic design is long due the axe and the new studio just looks like a step back to the current one - funny isn't it how it just looks like a cheap regional rip off of the national look!
If you're going to the effort of relocating everyone a few hundred miles up the M6 at least take advantage of the change and make everything feel fresh. Even from the snippets we've seen from Broadcasting House it appears that they'll be very little evolution of the current look when the BBC moves there.

That's because the current look has been designed in anticipation of what Broadcasting House will look like when its ready.

If we're talking about sets, I think there's quite a lot of difference in the BBC's 2008-era designs and the ones we're starting to see now (with the renders of BH studios and parts of the NWT set, the circular platform in particular).
As for graphics, we've had confirmation that Breakfast's titles will be updated with more detail and I would hazard a guess that similar will be done for the big news move to BH.

That is because moving BBC Breakfast was a last-minute and illogical decision when it was discovered that there was still space available (and IIRC the BBC needed to fill that space for contractual reasons). It is probably going to hurt Breakfast, because now it will be cut off from the larger BBC News operation to some degree, and it is going to be harder to get noteworthy guests in studio.
It is a huge balls up from the BBC that they've created a huge, purpose built new centre in Salford, but didn't plan for enough TV studios. Massive, massive embarrassment and it looks sh*t.
Close it down, sell it, and move back to the capital where the talent is.

I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Having the screens broken up compared to TC7 is nice, but I don't think it should be done with lightboxes. Just too bright.
The problem Breakfast has is that it can often end up looking too cold, such as with the black floor in TC7 which didn't suit the programme at all (but couldn't be helped). It just needs a slightly softer touch.
And I agree about the backdrop, what's going on there?

The design on the screens really is odd. Looks like an empty room with one or two red chairs.
Might work better on screen but I would rather have a shot of Salford Quays like on NWT! Agree that the design of the table and sofa is a big improvement.

What a boring design on those screens.
Saying that, I think the NWT one is too busy on close up shots so maybe that's a good thing.

They do have enough studios, though.
And that studio doesn't look 'sh*t', I think it's very pleasing on the eye, much better than the previous look.
