The bigger question is why did they need to build (let's not get bogged down in the details of who owns MediaCity)
a brand new Manchester hub and move a tonne of programming up North. It's hard to see how being based up north will save the Beeb any money, offer a better range of services, reach a wider audience or better the value of the license fee. .
Surely it's well known that it was Labour and Andy Burnham as Culture Secetary in particular who made the BBC adopt 'the out of London' strategy. He was still boasting about it 12 months ago on Question time. Saying that the BBC was too London centric and that one of his proudest achievements was to get the BBC to spend more money across the country and in particular in Salford Take for example Sunday Morning Live we have the ridiculous situation where London based guests and presenter are flown to Belfast and put up in a top hotel to do a show that could be easily be done from TVC.
Also look at Newsnight review/The review show now in Scotland while 90% of the guests are London based. Before they used the same set and crew as the Friday edition of Newsnight but now they have to set up a new studio with a new crew to satisfy stupid political pressures. Even the bloody Lottery quiz ahows have been moved!
During the 2006 licence fee negotiations Mark Thompson threatened to pull out of a full Salford move due to the poorer than expected licence fee offer and Gordon Brown said they would even get a worse deal if they didn't complete the Salford move.
Your argument (and its not that I disagree with every aspect of it), pre-supposes that shows made in London would not require guests to be shuttled to the studio or put up in hotels.
Just not a safe assumption, I'm afraid, and actually a rather London-centric assumption on your part. Those you reckon may live in the Smoke may actually be from Bedford or Aylesbury or Southampton. They still have to be ferried around, and hotel-wise its more expensive to put them up in White City than it is in Salford.
Not that I'm suggesting you're a Londoner who can't imagine that anyone important would live anywhere else, Cando, except you are and you did.

Good to see Sally finally on the sofa! Presumably all this madness is because there maybe some screen tests going on in Salford?

Maybe, I think Friday will be done from N6 as it is Good Friday...also maybe a bit of a holiday for the main presenters before the Salford move.
Must make sure that Thursday and Monday are recorded then - last one from TC7, and then last one from N6/ TVC.
Look forward to the show coming from Salford although I am still unsure about the studio!

Sorry for asking a silly question, but will Breakfast be using the same studio as North West Tonight?

No Adam Parsons?! Would have been wonderful to watch with Naga over the weekend. Great to see Naga will be on Wednesday, and of course Sally on Tuesday, and that Simon is down to present Good Friday, even if he won't be in TC7. Shame he won't be on with the currently unwell Carrie Gracie either. Nicholas, Bill, Susanna, Charlie and Louise are passable enough I suppose.

Indeed, pilots started this week and will continue until the launch date. Regarding the launch of the new website, it gives hints to the new graphics. FYI - they're all pretty much the same, just remade for HD with less red (more orange) and a more '3D' feel.
