While it is a rather longer than wide, think the ceiling height is more of an issue. On all wide shots I've seen on North West Tonight, the ceiling has been very prominent in shot. It makes it look quite claustrophobic on screen (which I'm sure it isn't in actuality).

It's just horrendous. The grid and ceiling is taking up a third of the frame in that long shot. It looks like student telly.

I'm beyond surprised that they would have built this space with network programming in mind. Who were the consultants for this project?

The didn't build it with network programming in mind - at the time it was just for NWT.

THURSDAY: Sian Williams’ final appearance on BBC Breakfast helped the show to its biggest audience of the year.

BBC Breakfast (BBC1) 6am-9.15am
1.72m (37.14%)

The presenter anchored her last instalment of the breakfast flagship after deciding she will not make the move to Salford with the rest of the production team.

Her farewell was seen by a peak of 2.44m (43.13%) viewers at 9.05am, helping the programme to its biggest weekday average of 2012.

It brought to a close an 11-year stint on the famous red sofa and underlined BBC Breakfast’s continued superiority over ITV1 rival Daybreak.

Daybreak (ITV1) 6am-8.30am
751k (17.34%) / 14k (0.26%)

The ITV1 breakfast show was nearly 1m viewers behind BBC Breakfast.

Worryingly for ITV, Daybreak is also tracking below the audience figures it was posting last year.

The show has averaged 710k (17.64%) so far in 2012, compared with 750k (18.27%) over the same period last year

I think its quite apt... His head only just clears the lighting rig in N8...

I'm pretty sure I read somwhere that they have to put his microphone in the corridor for risk of his amazing voice destroying their inferior BBC sound equipment.

Yes, SRS, you are right. In fact, he doesn't have a microphone at all. He just booms out to the World.

Thank heavens for Plexiglass.

The low-res version of the backdrop was on for a short bit this morning. Back to normal now:

EDIT: Seems to keep dipping in and out - looks like they are having problems with the Barco screens this morning.

Looks odd without the frosting!

Is it me, or do Bill and Suzanna look awkward in the cap above? As in, they aren't as relaxed around each other as they should be?

It's only a freeze frame! Not like they've never presented together before is it?

Yes, the millisecond captured in that image speaks volumes about their chemistry...

Must admit she does my head in occasionally.

(Then again most female TV & radio presenters that don't come across as the 'full ticket' do my head in anyway. That's why I don't listen to Mollie as much as I used to, plus I like my kip on Saturdays too! Don't get me started on Jo Malin!)
