OK, this is only a small thing, but it has been bugging me slightly for a little while.
Why, when the presenters say their names, do they quickly glance at each other? Is this something they have been instructed to do, or do they just do it anyway?

I doubt they have been *instructed* to do it; it's quite a natural gesture.
If you were introducing yourself and someone else to a complete stranger you would say "Hello, I'm James Vertigan and this is Joe Bloggs" with either a hand gesture or a glance towards the other person as you said their name. In response, your companion would probably glance towards you as acknowledgement of the introduction.
It would be rather odd to simply look straight at the person you are speaking to throughout. Try it, I think you would probably find it difficult to do.
It's strange, the red is a different shade from the BBC breakfast strap and when the regional news comes on the clock changes to black and the digits get bigger. Is this a new change or a technical mistake?

The black clock is probably because your region hasn't been told/hasn't noticed the main programme has gone back to using a red one.
It was properly legible for the first time in years.
You'd think they might take more notice of the comments of those who work who said an easy to read clock was useful, instead of those who don't work moaning about colour schemes and other such froth.
I don't think the red clock is an improvement. On its own it looks okay, but when the BBC Breakfast strap appears next to it in a different shade of red it looks awful IMO.
I actually think if the two shades matched up, so when the logo is there, the clock and logo appear part of one block, it could look quite good.
Incidentally, I noticed during a trail going up to 7am, just a thin outline of the clock was visible on screen - a thin red line going around where the clock would be. Anybody know why this would be?
