Right, which one of you lot swore on the Breakfast sofa this mornin???

Woops! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQIp2ydZhAo

I love the way he didn't actually think he'd done anything wrong. Most of the time these are mistakes but he genuinely thought it was okay to say. How odd.

What an absolute tosser. He would have been told its live and not to swear. Everyone is always told.

And its such a pathetic use of the word when there are dozens of other ways to express what he meant.

Self-important twaddle.

Although not quite as dramatic as this one from a few years ago, maybe because the controller/editor/whoever behind the scenes was responsible:

Really liked that. Thanks very much. Very informative. The sofa looks much narrower than it does from the front. Also, in one of the photos where Bill and Sian are looking into their computers, there is a little white "blob" next to Bill's keyboard. Is that one of those concealed microphone mounds, used when there is a breakdown on the radio packs?

Wish we could have more behind-the-scenes stuff like this, for BBC World.

Usually, swearwords in a language that is not a person's native language tend to be perceived as less offensive -- even if a person speaks that language well. For instance, I've seen mass-market British books with "merde" in their titles, whereas publishers would be highly unlikely to feature the word "sh*t" that way.

And, of course, continental Europe tends to be more permissive in this respect than most English-speaking nations.

Err, he's lived in New York from 8 years of age (returning to Copenhagen briefly to finish his schooling). Any suggestion that he's culturally unaware of the word (or indeed couldn't follow a direction to refrain from using swear words) is nonsense.

He knows he'd never be allowed back on network television in the States if he tried that.

And I'll bet he's never risked it.

He's no as green as he's cabbage looking. There's a phrase you can translate.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to excuse his actions; I just wanted to point out some things I thought *could* have been a factor. Having said that, I was unaware of his background and I stand corrected.

I appreciate your post.

I think that what aggravated me so much was his blasé response to being told the F word was unacceptable on live breakfast telly.

I think he's been indulged too much in the past. You can tell.
