Yes, I know that - I'm just saying the studio doesn't look particularly appealing in it's current state.

Fair enough, no offence intended.

Must say, I'm not sure I like it, having gotten used to the full Barco wall set up.

But then I wasn't keen on that when I saw it at first either.

None taken Wink It reminds of me of the current BBC Wales Today set with the large pillars and looks very generic - and I have a feeling the pillars will get in the way of the view out of the set whether they're at the desk or a sofa. I was imagining a far wider window view like Daybreak's, not little windows like This Morning. But I trust the BBC will jazz the place up a bit more, particularly for a national show like Breakfast. There may well be much more set that isn't in that picture!

I don't know how far finished this is, how it'll look when it's all completed and lit but at the moment it looks rather dull and unimaginative. Can't imagine this being suitable for Breakfast!

Hopefully this either isn't the studio, or there's still a lot of work to do.

It does look a bit dull, but you have to remember that in that image the studio is only lit with house lighting. Once the proper TV lighting is switched on and the screens are filled with background images I'm sure it will look like any other BBC News set in London.

It's hardly going to be the set for Breakfast. Wasn't it touted that they'd perhaps use the backdrop of the quays for starters.. I can hardly see the BBC moving the country's biggest morning show to Salford, accompanied with such drastic changes such as Williams and Hollins leaving to opt for a half baked regional set that looks as tired as the current Breakfast set. It'll be a brand new set, either in line with the new offering at the new news centre, or utilising the new premises to it's fullest..

Are they plannin on keeping Breakfast in Salford after BBC News moves to BH or will they be reunited in their new home?

This is a permament move. There is nothing to be gained from moving them to Salford for less than a year. It however flies in the face of the entire effort of bringing BBC News across platforms under one roof.

Probably already common knowledge but has it been confirmed whether the weekend bulletins will continue to come from the news channel studio I.e. in London?

To answer a few questions:

1.Will come from Salford, (inc bank holidays)
2.Set looks much the same with curved red sofas but problems with 'studio' height and space compared to london
3.Backing is not set in stone yet but def will not be a 'local' view.
4.Bill will present for just a few days a week with Suz.
5.Programme will be at Salford for at least a few years - it has to be seen as working etc etc etc...

Many thanks for that information. That's very good of you to share it with us.

Can you confirm that the set we saw in the last few pages is the Breakfast studio, and they will share with NWT?

Interesting they're not going for a local view. So will it be shot of newsroom, or animated fake one?

What else do you know about presenters of the programme? Is it likely that Susanna will get main job, will Charlie be moving, who is likely to be other female presenter, and what about sport, weather, business - in Salford or in London?

Any more info you're at liberty to tell us?!

That looks awful. I don't mean in terms of lighting or colour, but the design of the set. The sets like BBC Look North, while not perfect, look a lot better than this BBC London/ STV Edinburgh type setup. This also looks more like converted office space than a purpose built studio - again a let down if so.

'Suz'? When you say 'set looks much the same' do you mean compared to the current TC7 setup or compared to the above picture? Because either way it's hard to see how this will be an improvement over TC7.

Obviously the picture corroborates with the fact that you mention the studio space and height, both of which are lacking in the picture we've got above.

I like it, a nice change from the now boring newswalls on every BBC show. I wonder if there's an oposite side of what we see in the photo and if it will be used as well, maybe that's where the sofa will be with a view of the newsroom and the space on the photo is for a news desk?

My Observations.

- It looks like there are 5 Barco-style screens (some with cloudy sky pictures and some with just green.)
- the glossy pillars are probably lightboxes. Its also possible that the top and bottom panels are as well.
- there is definitely daylight coming in from the left - meaning there is a window just out of shot. You can see it reflected in the far right pillar.

I would hazard a guess that this is the NWT studio, as it will be open for business in just over a month.

In case I've missed it, I don't think there has been an announcement of a date when the BBC will begin broadcasting Breakfast from Salford, so I'd say that we probably havent seen the Breafast Set, unless its due to begin in October.

Besides, how can the BBC be expected to air both Breakfast, and the North West Opts from the same studio? CSO's look crap, and what is the point of spending all that money when you cant have a studio each?
