I don’t see why there’s so much negativity to be honest. When it comes to the BBC I’ve come to expect nothing above standard BBC News. Anything else is a bonus.
While we could do with some proper titles and matching L3s etc, what we do have looks pleasant and is a good change from the boring look we’ve had since essentially 2008.
What Breakfast really needs is a larger studio space with a more enlightening set than a red sofa in front of a few screens. Breakfast makes up more than 23 hours of BBC News output on your average week. For some reason it’s been consigned to a sub-par regional news studio.
Allowing the programme to move away from the standard BBC News L3s to avoid the orange/red clash (VD doesn’t use the standard ones, why must Breakfast), and granting a programme that gets so much exposure a suitable home would transform the image of Breakfast from what is essentially a 3 hour block of the BBC News channel, but presented from a poorly-lit cupboard.
