They're bringing back the Blue Sky backdrop.

Blimey! That was almost as bad as the current backdrop!

At least then they actually listened to viewer feedback and it only lasted a few weeks. Same with the dentist waiting room look in 2002 which also only lasted a short period (which was alright to be honest).

I don't remember the 2002 look, do you have any pictures of it?

That set was introduced in October 2000 and lasted until November 2002 as I recall, so a good two years. That was pretty standard for most BBC News presentation back then, they tended to refresh things about every 2 or so years. That was in the days when they had a bit more cash.

I seem to recall that the November 2002 set revamp, with the removal of the news desk and the introduction of permanent sofas, coincided with Natasha Kaplinsky joining the programme. But I don't think that particular version lasted too long as it had been changed to the red and white set certainly by the summer of 2003.

so i am guessing tomorrow is the day, we will find out soon enough if these changes are indeed exciting, or we just overreacted like typical TV Forumers we are.

I would put money on the latter. As I've said, I strongly suspect Mobbs was alluding to changes on Newsround as posted about elsewhere.

Will BBC Breakfast remain in Salford for the foreseeable future? Unless a move to London is in the planning? Studio B at Broadcasting House could make sense, as it would be used by BBC Breakfast, Victoria Derbyshire and Newsnight all in one day, good money saving effort possibly.

How would that work having set up for Breakfast, Victoria Derbyshire, GMT, Impact, Global & Newsnight all with the limited turnaround?

The only additional change would be between Breakfast and VD for which the physical changes could quite easily be as simple as swapping a modular sofa for the VD set (presumably changes to the colour of the lighting can be done in seconds as they manage to change it for talking business).

The reasons why it will won't happen are political rather than logistical. A hybrid set that works for Breakfast and Victoria Derbyshire could easily be done.

I’d say Victoria Derbyshire moving to Salford is the more likely scenario here.

This is the same Victoria Derbyshire that didn't move to Salford when 5live did? Non-starter.

The Derbyshire format doesn't necessarily need to have Victoria at the helm. Chloe Tilley IMHO is the next best presenter on the format and more accessible than Victoria is at delivering it.
