Does Breakfast take the output of BBC London as an outside source to show it as the sustaining feed? If that is the case is there any reason why it couldn't be NWT instead (beyond internal politics)?

It could do, but what would be the point?

If London are unable to provide a bulletin, the Salford gallery take a feed of Tunbridge Wells as a back up, which is the logical next nearest region for Londoners

London doesn't opt as such in Breakfast

I guess if the line from London failed or there was an evacuation just before an opt and there wasn't time to get a line established from Tunbridge Wells, a feed from NWT might be really available?

Tunbridge Wells is available to them every morning so in the unlikely both they and London aren't available then they could.

I suspect in such a situation the Breakfast presenters would just fill with a paper review, or just a general chit chat with the sports and or biz presenters. Didn't that happen at one point in the past?

They had a paper review for digital viewers during the opts when Breakfast was shifted to BBC Two during one of the Olympics pre-DSO (2008?). Is that what you might be thinking of?

I do remember that, yes. Of course the nations were able to opt, so a slot had to be created for them. However, I seem to recall there was a short notice ad hoc occurance too?

Was that when there was some kind of meltdown at CCM and the regional opts were going out in the wrong areas? Did they give up as a bad job perhaps?
Write that down in your copybook now.

Fun and games this morning on BBC Breakfast. When they did the front pages at 6.15, Charlie was describing Thursdays papers, but it was Wednesdays on screen. And when they went to Matt on location for the weather, someone could be heard talking in the background but Matt was nowhere to be seen.
