Apologies if this has been said before, but does anybody else think Breakfast should just move in to Studio E at NBH? It would give BBC News a more unified look and I think the branding suits the studio perfectly.

I doubt the presenters, production staff, editors, cleaners and the rest would appreciate a 400 mile round trip commute from Salford to Studio E.

I think B would be used for Breakfast if they returned to London, your have the hard news set and soft set

Given the BBC is looking to increase its spend outside London (as a proportion maybe not in cash terms) this is unlikely to happen given something else would have to move in the opposite direction.

They ditched the hard/soft set idea shortly after being in N6 a decade ago.

I doubt the programme would ever return to London, any more than them relocating anything else from MediaCity to NBH.

I can completely see the programme moving back to London.

However, under the current management, licence fee settlement, production conditions, staffing arrangements? No, I can see it remaining in Salford for a long time.

There are advantages for this type of programming to be London based, guests and newsroom access primarily among them, but currently they are outweighed by the political (BBC and Governmental) decisions which resulted in the original move. Until those policies change, it's not coming back to London.

They wouldn't be able to use B on Sundays because Andrew Marr comes straight after it.

Marr could easily continue from E. But that presents an issue for the news coming from E after Marr. Unless the news comes from C.

We have a whole alphabet of issues here......

Marr could come from B, with the news coming from E. Breakfast comes from Salford.

That’s my idea anyway. Wink

This might have been a small technical fault as it was back to orange this morning.

Business presenter Sean Farrington was in the studio with Naga and Charlie this morning. Is this the first time they've had a third person in the studio (excluding behind the scenes crew) since the lockdown?

I assume it is because other shows like GMB and This Morning have been introducing more people into the studio. GMB had five in the studio IIRC this morning.
