May I ask, what studio does the Breakfast news summary come from at the moment?
The news summary comes form the same studio as the main show -
Studio TC7
.
We learnt this, as well as a number of other mealy facts, when Bill Turnbull fronted a nostalgic retrospective of Breakfast News this morning. This is all prior to the relaunch of Breakfast (new sofa etc.) on Tuesday.
Have just watched vid of todays prog - felt a little cheated as [I thought] there seemed to be an implication yesterday that there was to be a sneaky peak of the new set today.
However, nice to wallow in some nostalga - I still liked the old red leather sofa used by Frank & co, though it looked almost as uncomfortable as the hideous mustard yellow one used by Jeremy & Sophie.
Also bored my eldest daughter (11yrs) with pausing the vid to show her where the National news set is currently sitting!
Has the new set build programme gone to schedule or has there been any hitches?
Have never seen Kate on Breakfast before... how fantastic is she?! Definite big name in the making, and as I've said before, sooo un-BBC it's quite untrue.
We're saying goodbye to our old studio in Television Centre, which has been our weekday home for almost two decades.
Surely they've only been in TC7 since the main news moved into N6 - before that they shared the virtual set in either N1 or N2 didn't they? Or do they mean they moved to TC from Lime Grove in the mid 80's?

Glad I'm not the only one who likes Kate. It's a shame she bad press over Hayton's departure, and that so many people on here now appear convinced she's a bee-atch after just one article in the Daily Mirror.
Quite a few years ago I used to speak to her on the phone regularly through work. I know it's not conclusive, but from what I could make out, she always seemed charming.
Yes, Kate is proving quite a draw across the corporation (to which end we ran a few articles here, here and here).
Her Breakfast appearance on Friday was a case in point, moving eaily between being the straight guy to a particularly impish Bill Turnbull and joining in the abject silliness of having to introduce a half-hourly 'story' on hugging.
yes, i think Kate's great - loved the hugging item - she's always well up for a laugh as is Sian which is why they're the best presenters on Breakfast - could you ever imagine Natasha or Mishal giving Bill a hug - NO WAY!! I know Sian wasn't there but I reckon she'd be up for it.
I'm really sad we'll be losing Sian and hope she comes back after her maternity leave - I always wonder how the women cope with childminding as the shifts aren't family friendly - i hope she doesn't have to give the job up because of having no one to look after the baby. Sian's great - Kate to cover while she's gone please - and it'd be nice if more time was given to reading out viewers emails.
Rather a big week for Breakfast - the departure of Moira on Wednesday, the farewell to the current set on Friday, the loss of the Breakfast Briefing (considering there is no newsdesk anymore) and possibly the farewell to the sound package (though this is just my own personal opinion).
It will be interesting to see the new set on Tuesday and from what Bill suggested, the sofa will be a similar shape but not red.
All the best to Moira, a brilliant newsreader and nice to see she will be back on Saturday's though IMO she should have been able to present the main programme.

With what Bil said about the sofa (similar shape, different colour), you don't think that after the incident recently when they had to use the Newsnight Review purple sofa, they're going to cheat & use that one & recolour around it?
