Why can't they use a shot of the backdrop that they use on the six (pillarless) rather than having that dirty great pillar in the middle of it?
Not that it matters now (!)
May I ask, what studio does the Breakfast news summary come from at the moment? Sorry for asking, its just that I haven't kept up to speed with things lately

the main national news desk, which is currently directly opposite the Breakfast set.

It probably has something to do with the positions of the cameras facing the Breakfast set. When the main national bulletins are on the cameras are turned to face the the national desk.

It carries the BBC News logo on its titles (until Tuesday at least), and is often referred to on air as "Breakfast from BBC News".
Well from seeing the item this morning, on how Breakfast has changed over the years, it looks like the sofa will remain for the programme, albeit in a slightly different colour. I can derive this because Bill said after his report that the new set is a similar shape, slightly differnet colour, and the background lighting will change depending on the weather and time of day. Also the tone of his voice when he did the segment on the introduction of the desk in 1989, which lasted 11 years.
