Did anyone see the cock up this morning? (On N24 version)

Must have been around 6.30 - 7.00am. In the middle of a report suddenly there was a freeze of the current BBC Two Nazi trailer being aired. After a few seconds of that it cut to the BBC News 24 Studio and the side on shot of presenter and screen - with no one sitting there at that time obviously. Then after about 20 seconds they went back to Breakfast with a loss of sound for a min.

It’s always worth watching Breakfast on N24. If there isn’t a cut to a live shot, theres usually an aston mysteriously appearing or tower appears. Is that the time of day the cleaners come in and tit about in the gallery?

Breakfast at the moment for me is really quite unbearable. That Dermot/Natasha thing is fake.

The set is well at best crap, Im sure I can wait till 2008 for that backdrop.
Concidering Newsnight Review comes from the same area im surprised how professional and tidy an review programme can be, when an emblem of BBC News can look so ****
Bring back Billy Boy and Sian, Send Dermot to the six, and pack Nat of to CNN.

Breakfast needs a complete overhaul - for a start, it's no longer sure whether it wants to be a serious news or a lifestyle programme. In the Jeremy and Sophie era it used to be clear when the lifestyle bit began, because they move to the sofa.

The titles don't seem to fit with anything else about the show, their primary colour is organe which doesn't figure in the set at all. The set itself is dire. It compares so unfavourably with the big, spacious set used when Breakfast was first launched. The backdrop is just horrible, a semi-washed out image of a building and the wood for the desks and to perch the sofa on is way too dark. As for those white bits with the red squares - why?

Dermot and Natasha are both good broadcasters and seem to get on well togther, but come over as a bit stilted in this format. Maybe if Breakfast adopted a more news driven agenda they would be OK, otherwise split them up. I can't really work out who the problem is, possibly Dermot, who I really rate as a presenter. Natasha seems to do better when she's on with Bill or Simon.

Natasha is much better on the weekend bulletins. Bill and Sian are obviously the best team going at the moment, and they should really be the main team.

On the six i'm sure only one of the presenters really needs to be a journalist, so Moira should be the second female presenter, with Phil Hayton the second male.

I guess it depends how you define journalist - doesn't 20 years in TV news qualify you as one? And an award from a journalists association IIRC

Yes, I really think we should re-start the campaign to have BIG MOIRA restored to her rightful place on the Six.


On the subject of Breakfast, I agree that it is totally dire. Bill and Sian make it just about watchable.

All they have done to the titles is re-mixed them, once... the set looks liek its been done by a baby, and as for the format, its just crap...

There is no if about it - they don't. You may think they do, but you're in a minority, i can assure you.

We've been through this thousands of times (see earlier posts in this thread) so I'm not going to argue with you. Like I said before, we're always going to agree to disagree on the subject of the chemistry between Dermot and Natasha.
